Name the first 5 RPGs you played: 1) Ad&d 2e 2) Vampire: The Requiem 3) Shadowrun (who know which edition) 4) Star Wars D20 5) Werewolf: The Apocalypse At least I think that is the order. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I didn't learn about RPGs until after college, but once I got in and understood what was happening I became absolutely voracious. 1. D&D 3.5 2. Star Wars Saga 3. Pathfinder 1e 4. D&D 5E 5. Genesys (which cracked open the world of games that don't hinge on a d20- huzzah!)

WoTC has rejected the Union. While a good chunk of folks are at Gamehole con who aren’t as online as they normally will be so they might miss this news. The union was rejected for many reasons, one of them was over protections against generative Ai. www.enworld.org/threads/wotc...

I fucking hate Ai. It is the biggest point of frustration with my day job (need to get writing more). I work in Marketing (focused mostly digital side, but it bleeds into traditional). But, until folks stop using google I have to make sure we show up in all the major LLMs. Fuck Ai.

Having trouble deciding which books to buy from Amazon during Prime Days? Try this: None, then go support an independent bookstore instead. 😌

This leaves two companies in charge of almost all of the major conventions in the U.S. and Canada. Fuck.

Just read that Informa, the company that owns all the Fan Expo shows, just bought the company that owns Left Field Media (Rose City Comic Con, Awesome Con, Anime NYC, and Anime Frontier.)

I have a comic book club with a couple of friends. I read most of the books either through the library (Libby app) or one of the subscription apps. But, I also go out to my comic book store of choice and buy the graphic novel as well.

After re-reading Saga of Swampthing about a year back, I’ve been reading through the 80’s DC books (and late 70s). Some are great… some are not. Longbow Hunters and The Questions are my surprise likes so far. Loved Hellblazer & Starman as I expected I’d enjoy. Next: Wonder Woman - Perez’s Run

Reminder that when some say Portland has "the highest taxes in the country," they often fail to mention it's only for individuals over $125k/year. And when they say it's higher than California and New York (oh my!), it's about a 3% difference and without those states' 8% sales tax.

Since the announcement of our union, Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro have hired Fisher Phillips (a union avoidance firm), and chosen to engage in a daily union-avoidance campaign by sending emails to the Arena team that is spreading misinformation and sowing fear among our colleagues. #uwotc-cwa

A lot of folks need these conventions to survive… So, if you boycott, make sure to use that money to support the folks who will most be hurt and buy art! And if you go to the cons, be careful, and let’s the orgs know that this is bullshit, and most importantly, support artists and buy their art.

Sen, but Spooky@dresdencodak.com

Just FYI, you won't see me at the big ReedPop conventions (ECCC, SDCC, C2E2, NYCC, etc) because their parent company is infamous for feeding people's data to ICE. Honestly it wasn't a hard call, half these shows put all the artists in haunted basements now anyway bleedingcool.com/pop-culture/...
