I am 43-years old, been playing games since I was 5 on my Amstrad. I still play them on PC and a collection of ‘retro’ machines. I have no idea what gen is what. Old is good, new is also good. You’re here for my pixel art paintings though I imagine. So, hopefully I’ll be sharing plenty.

Mass Effect was my ultimate white whale, my all-time dream project. For the last couple years I'd been in discussion w/ BioWare & EA to take on the project & as part of that I wrote close to 20 minutes of music to explore where the franchise can go next, may as well share it!

Sparkster is rocketing over to Seattle soon, nice to see another painting find a home ❤️ This was the last painting I did in Hampshire before returning to Yorkshire, time sure does fly.

Friday night

@sd2snes.de Running FF3/6(USA) on the 1.11.2 firmware gives some random crashes. I’m using a JP Super Famicom and have all in-game hooks off and not using Save States. It plays fine but randomly sometimes a menu won’t respond, then I skip to a screen of garbage and the music continues playing. 😞

Spent the last month and a half moving into a new house, extremely stressful time and still loads to do. I’ve not had any time for leisure. My game room is now nearly finished though and hearing those Tristram guitar strums sent waves of relief and joy through me. Video games are special, man.

wait a minute, I knew Ric Flair appeared in Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising as Commander Hill, but I didn't realise EA thought him important enough to the game to appear on the front cover as well???

RIP Bobby Prince. His music legacy will live on, making inspired music for Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM, countless others. A true legend. And such a nice man, great musician, wonderful, fun-loving man, nothing but happy memories of him. A loss to the world.

Today is the final day until BEEP closes and moves to a new location in Akihabara in early June. Yes it was cramped and underground, but the location was iconic!

Probably the first PC game I ever sat down and played properly (Id had a quick look at Diablo and Dungeon Keeper once before). It was at a friends house and I was blown away by how interactive and detailed it was compared to what I’d seen before. Those trip mines! Still has a huge place in my heart!

Happy Halloween! Jason won this fight, I was going to do a Nightmare on Elm Street painting, but it was just too complex for me to deal with so I went with this classic. As a kid I could scarcely believe how good the graphics looked on Gremlins 2! That title screen looked just like a photograph to me. So maybe I was a little off, but it still looked great for the NES. Had to recreate it for a painting, so much detail in there! #gremlins2 #nes #halloween #nintendo

Podd for the BBC Micro. One of my earliest video-game memories. This and Grannies Garden were some of the most unbelievably exciting moments I had at school, maybe 38 years ago. If I had a holy grail it would be to play these games on original hardware.
