Every Black Friday Shopify shows how "boring" technology can be scaled just fine. This year they did 45M queries/sec with MySQL and somewhere around 1.3M request/sec on Rails. If a tech company has enough business to need to scale: it can scale with whatever boring tech it uses

Epá, esta série na RTP está do caraças. Mas mesmo do caraças. Melhor que boa parte que existe na Netflix e afins. Estou de boca aberta.

"We get used to a constant stream of new, stimulating content, making anything less than the instantly gratifying feel dull by comparison." Great article by "Speak and Regret" www.speakandregret.michaelinzlicht.com/p/scrolling-...

Me: 'I’ll just fix this one bug.' 5 hours later: 'What if I rewrote the entire app in Rust?'

I am building https://Bluesky.Garden 🌱 If you know any interesting tools or applications targeted specifically to enrich Bluesky experience, please, let me know.

By popular request, here's how to add Bluesky replies as your blog's comment section! This requires some technical know-how for now, but I'm hoping that we see some no-code solutions for this pop up soon, like Ghost or Wordpress plugins. emilyliu.me/blog/comments

do you know about Helm Charts? helm.sh/docs/topics/... basically it's multiple templates that you define in a file. when you run helm, it renders the templates into real Kubernetes manifests if you use Kubernetes (and helm), this makes the deployment process so much easier

My one constructive criticism on BlueSky, as a community: we need to “like” less and “retweet” more. In the absence of an algorithm, that’s the way we find each other and reward good content.

Finally decided to setup Github Actions for my blog and the deploys to Cloudflare are so fast now, every change is available in less than a minute. I'm caching some directories so future builds are faster

[job interview] Interviewer: It says here that you are a blowfish. Would you care to expand?
