Trump on his meeting with Gold Star families: "I invited them out to check out the new helipad, check out the new ballroom, and check out the new helicopter"

This shit has to stop.

Video of an ICE agent pulling a gun on a wife and mother, who is a US citizen born and raised in the area, near Bailey's Crossroads in Northern Virginia yesterday. Chillingly, they claimed she “almost ran them over” until she told them she had video proving that was a lie.

WELKER: Is America backing away from a larger attack bc our stockpile has been depleted? WALTZ: We have to take a step back. A lot of our stockpiles were depleted because of Biden WELKER: But you acknowledge they're depleted? WALTZ: No. And the people leaking this nonsense deserve to be in jail

HOLY SHIT. FIFA President Gianni Infantino is at the USA game, sitting with Howard Lutnick, Secretary of Commerce AND CLOSE PERSONAL FRIEND OF JEFFREY EPSTEIN. Disgusting.

This is easily the saddest time in American history. The absolute worst people are systematically destroying the country, and our system is completely failing to stop them.

You wouldn’t marry someone who lied to you like this. You wouldn’t be friends with someone who lied to you like this. You wouldn’t do business with someone who lied to you like this. You wouldn’t work for someone who lied to u like this. You’d want nothing to do with someone who lied to u like this.

Remember, Democrats have repeatedly advanced measures to ban partisan gerrymandering and Republicans have voted against them time after time. This is the game Republicans wanted to play. OK, then.

ryan cooper@ryanlcooper.com

sucks that it’s come to this, but if congressional Republicans wanted to put up a national gerrymandering ban or multi member districts etc, it would pass *for sure*. until then fight fire with fire

Remember when Trump threatened to wipe out a whole civilization? And then backed out of that and talked about forming a deal with Iran? And then dropped that and went to a UFC fight as negotiations fell apart? And then unveiled a triumphal arch and a photo of himself as Jesus? That was this week.

If the estimates were right, there were about 9 million people at No Kings rallies today. That would mean this protest was THIRTY TIMES AS LARGE AS THE TEA PARTY PROTEST which we were told, over and over again, was a massively important sign that US politics had shifted dramatically to the right

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

Again, the first Tea Party rallies in April 2009 -- heavily promoted in advance by Fox News -- only had about 300,000 attendees across 750 cities, but the media treated it like the Second American Revolution. There will be multiple *individual* No Kings rallies today that have more people at them.

I actually think the behavior of the Republicans in the audience has been more noteworthy than Trump’s speech itself. The braying, boorish jeers and yawps of a party fully given over to fascism.

Republicans want hearings over Bad Bunny lyrics that weren’t even in the halftime show. But the full Epstein files? Delayed. Again. And again. They’ll police Spanish song lyrics before they expose child predators. That tells you everything about their priorities.

Well done, Rep. Jayapal.

Jayapal: To the survivors in the room, if you are willing, please stand. And if you are willing, please raise your hands. If you have still not been able to meet with this DOJ. Please note for the record that every single survivor has raised their hand.

After he pushed state legislatures to rig Congressional maps ahead of the midterms, Donald Trump is now threatening a federal takeover of elections. He’s scared, and instead of trying to sell Americans on his failing agenda, he’s trying to rig the midterms in plain sight.

The choice is impeachment and removal or calamity for the United States. I don't see how anybody watching Trump's speech in Davos can draw any other conclusion. He's a senile madman.

Genuinely think our society is lost if we can’t find a way to start caring that the ostensibly most powerful man in the world acts like this.

TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there. Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged. Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.
