i was kind of caught off guard by how little i got into it, after all of the societal buildup - they are totally fine movies, i get the references now, and i can kind of see how it became this whole huge phenomenon, but i've never felt the need to revisit it

apparently there's a massive twenty-foot-tall geologically noteworthy rock just sitting in some people's yards a few blocks away never would have guessed that probably doesn't say great things about how much i get out

Glad to see staff is so considerate to newer gamers in advance of the OoT remake. Not everyone has played through the game before, it's a lot harder to spoil the later temples when bluesky is blocking adult Links.

another one of the things that can happen in life is that sometimes you will get an email congratulating you on having had a livejournal account for twenty years i was not especially ready for that particular blast of psychic damage today

you know what, obvious gen-ai video game company? i think i *will* click on your youtube ad every time it pops up now you'll think the ad is working and worth continuing to pay for not gonna buy anything though

jaw absolutely unhinged at the GALL of Richard Ayoade quoting "fix your hearts or die" (a Twin Peaks line explicitly condemning transphobia) on Taskmaster, after effusively blurbing Graham Linehan's book about getting ~canceled~ for being a proud transphobe. genuinely sick to my stomach. no words.

oh no was it stealing things you were saying and doing to use for its own purposes

OpenAI discovered a “sophisticated recording device” in one of its offices planted by an employee who has been arrested, the company said. https://cnn.it/4dDnIxJ

some people might say, "proj, you should post at times that are not nearly one in the morning, and also you should try posts that are funny and good, then you will get more Likes" to those people i say, you can keep your likes, i'm in it for the love of the craft the weird, often confusing craft

237 years ago today, washington announced when the first national thanksgiving day would be (as a one-off) and 163 years ago today, lincoln announced that it would become a yearly national holiday happy thanksgiving day day, everybody

note that thanksgiving day day is distinct from thanksgiving day day day, which is november 28th that is the date when the wikipedia article "national thanksgiving proclamation" was first created in 2006

sometimes a book will have magical de-aging medicine and a character will take too much of it and their age will become negative and they will be teleported to "minusland" where everybody hovers horizontally because that is how minus signs look that is one of the things that can happen in a book

Not really sure where a bunch of liberals got the idea that they can’t win without throwing trans people in the garbage, but they’re stupid and cruel and wrong. If you want a human sacrifice so damned bad put gavin newsom in the wicker man

to exit our building, you have to walk by our control room window, so sometimes i get to eavesdrop on people's unfiltered opinions on our escape rooms as they leave friends, in this world, be the guy i heard yesterday who yelled "i'm all JAZZED UP on PROBLEM-SOLVING!!!" in a monster truck ad voice

i'm realizing i have a favorite subgenre of indie puzzler, and it's (rot13) "tnzrf gung fraq lbh bhg gb rkcyber sne naq jvqr gb yrnea gur ehyrf bs gur jbeyq, ohg vs lbh xabj gurz nyernql lbh pna orng gur tnzr va haqre n zvahgr"

i know we're coming up on fifty years of normalization in the public consciousness, but take a sec to step out of that frame of reference with me "garfield" is a buckwild thing to name a pet, right? same with "odie" or "nermal", or to a lesser extent "arlene" what is happening in that universe

i use a mood tracker app usually it's one prompt a day to rate my mood on a 1-5 scale there's a notes function, too, but i don't remember ever using it apparently i did use it once because it has just cheerily notified me of the ten-year anniversary of the time i made the note "asshole escape team"

Odysseus mentioning that he’s in the Bronze Age made me think of a caveman saying “Man it is extremely Paleolithic around here lately”
