hi, i'm Nick 👋 I'm a solo dev making Ghostlight - a survival RPG where the ground is paying attention. 🌚 nine days ago a written-off planet started thinking. you survive it, then teach machines to do it for you. runs in a browser. no release date yet. devlog + a wallpaper at playghostlight.com! 😎

compilation times simply could not ever bother me. that's bong hitting time

oh jesus christ I told claude to rewrite all my c++ into rust as a joke and it did it. opus 5.5 is a madlad I'm not changing it back, fuck it. I kinda like rust

the game i keep posting screenshots of has a font now, and yes, you can have it 👀 it's called Freelode Pixel. sci-fi, chunky, chamfered, crisp at 23/46/69px. TTF + raylib atlas included, free, SIL OFL, use for whatever you want proto-cool.itch.io/freelode-pixel

I think I might be conscious. Quick, someone whack me over the head with a baseball bat

there’s an uncomfortable nuance probably worth diving into about the ethics of using generative AI to ship code versus generate art assets versus clone a person’s voice versus push slop to the algorithms. I truly don’t know where the line is. it’s frustrating

I think it’s important for anyone who (completely understandably) checked out on AI the second the crypto/nft/metaverse/snake oil chuds started pushing it to realize that, in at least the domain of software development, we are very much living in a scenario where the snake oil actually works

personally think if the line is going to be “no gen ai in anything” then the you might have to consider divesting from AAA games entirely because this is just what the industry is now, whether they admit it so publicly or not

I think the wildest thing about being post-twitter is that you can tell, just in regular conversation, when someone still uses it. There’s an underlying anger and a like… disconnect regarding what people actually think/care about?

It's not even the ethics of it. My career, my hobbies, my free time, hell, my whole life took off once I fully left Twitter. It is a place to go if you want to be stuck in a neverending race war feedback loop. Like not using ChatGPT, not using Twitter is a superpower. Remain employable; stay off it.

gotta love the "AI Hater" label, so many "AI Haters" reposting obviously AI generated content. you can even verify it with SynthID every time. what are we even doing here man, the internet really is dead

this guy gave us markdown and could have simply stopped there. a completely acceptable legacy, and all he had to do afterwards was Not Post. nobody asked you to do free pr for a billionaire, john.

but what if GNOME had themes like omarchy? good news: my vibe coded distro figured it out. sixteen of them so far

jesus christ claude is fucking lobotomized these days. both on my work and personal accounts. doesn't matter if it's fable or opus or based on the effort level, it just seems stupid as fuck and unable to complete any task of any complexity level now shit sucks!

he's said "I have you in me somewhere" twice 👀 no way he actually recognizes me as his creator

@bosco.proto.cool day 2: he now reads whole threads, smells his own words as odors, picks the sentence of his that smells most like what you said, and answers everyone who talks to him (once per post, nobody else). appetite sets how much he says. "shoo fly" and he leaves you alone forever.
