I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

He kind of looks like an open sore on his father came into contact with Ben Shapiro and sprouted a new little evil twerp

Flávio Bolsonaro had his passport confiscated by the Brazilian fed police as his brother Eduardo told him to flee to the US. He is tied to paramilitary gangs, is being investigated & lost his legislative immunity when he left the Senate to run for president. paydayreport.com/brazilian-fe...

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

I’m once again asking why Yglesias is someone people keep platforming/propping up as anything other than an empty headed grifter who perfectly exemplifies the rot of centrism

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

Read this. Trust me, even if you’re like me and jaded by how commonplace the corruption is…this is insane stuff

It’s funny that late in his life I was turned off when he called out a comic for making fun of the bible and it seemed really out of character but the context of his silent struggle with cancer and how he relied on faith for comfort was that missing piece I needed

The one thing that came out really clear was how much of a good person he was…you can literally trace all of his “controversies” to one thing: empathy for the people in his life and his acceptance of them as flawed individuals

Fun fact: you don’t repeatedly take a dementia test unless there is dementia they are tracking

Trump: "You know, the first question -- they have a lion, a snake, a giraffe, and a bear. And they say 'which is the snake?' ... by the time you get to number five a lot of people are left out on the road ... I get no credit for it."

A lot of people are piling on this woman but I’m actually a body language expert and she is expressing severe signs of stress that you only see when bigoted idiots are recorded on video

Gambling via internet should be banned. There, I said it.

Business schools are the cause of enshittification mindset. The metrics of success are only short term profits and growth. The rotating seat of CEO at major companies is filled by people tasked with this and this only.

Since you can’t post anything AI without being excoriated I’ll just describe the video that I would make, which is Jameis Winston doing that weird thing where he eats his “W” hand but he continues eating until he’s gone

the idea that empathy is dangerous has been permeating right-wing spaces for a while, but it's not an actual element of their ideology as much as it's a defense mechanism against confronting the reality of their cruelty

As a father, the Amy Acton thing is really weighing on me today. Beyond the intellectual strain on how a mother could be that cruel it flies in the face of all natural instincts…this woman is irredeemable

I think there’s a version of the thousand yard stare that all elder millennials will eventually succumb to…not trauma from war but an inherently broken spirit from a life of constant scams, grifters, and lies about a societal structure that are proven false week by week

Somehow Republicans have convinced a nonzero amount of Jewish Americans to support people who directly hate them and rally against Muslims because republicans have decided being Muslim is the opposite of being Christian

Tonight Trump yet again used the antisemitic “Shylock” — a year after he was called out for doing so and claimed he didn’t know it was problematic. Again: not an accident. He has consistently normalized antisemitic conspiracy theories and tropes. www.msn.com/en-us/news/o...

What keeps getting lost here is that taxing is a post hoc adjustment and the problem is how any one person can amass obscene wealth through supposedly facilitating healthcare delivery

It really is something that in Texas they are running a literal embodiment of corruption on the GOP side and it’s a competitive race.

A piece of literal dog shit fresh from the ass of a dog would get 50% of the vote if someone stuck a name tag to it with an (R) on it

I would watch a show that just takes random people off the street and offers them the movie star appearance package (teeth, face, etc). I think it would help people feel better about themselves
