The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.

A proposed rule fueled by Trump’s conspiracy theories would require the USPS to keep a list of voters it believes should be allowed to vote by mail—and give them the power to hold those ballots hostage. Urge them to say NO and help protect voting by mail: act.standupamerica.com/letters/cte-...
Genuinely delightful thread for Dads of all genders! Happy Dad Day to all who’ve put in the work!
It is time once again to discuss the Most Dad Things we have done in the past year. A couple of reminders: - gender is a social construct, anyone can do Dad Things - you need not be a parent to do a Dad Thing - the definition of a Dad Thing is entirely subjective and maybe made up I’ll go first:

The historically dominant Western culture seems to, as a bloc, lack moral imagination, and so interprets moral imagination exercises as contextless condemnations and/or navel gazing. They then react accordingly.
they are furious to the point of rage over the fact that obama reminded them he is black and in doing so implicated them in racial prejudice

All right, I wrote about it:
A sickening (pun intended) reality of the US health care system is that insurers and employers grouse about utilization (using the services we paid for) and actively work to dissuade it. Then they grouse about the costs of multimorbid, complex care. It’s almost like $$ is the sickness.

This is the whole “condemned to repeat it” part. The US, with its ridiculous incarceration rates and policies, has long had centers where certain demographics had been concentrated. We looked the other way because those people did illegal stuff. Expand the definition of illegal, and here we are.

As attacks on libraries, books, and library patrons and workers continue to be on the rise across the country, two new resources from our co-founder @prisonculture.bsky.social, about criminalization of and in libraries, to provide some helpful context, information, and inspiration for resistance: ⬇️
Hey folks! Feeling triggered, but like... actually? They want you traumatized. Here are great, free, evidence-based resources: www.nicabm.com/free-resourc... We need persistence for the resistance, and that needs the energy being sucked up by the stress. Take good care of yourselves.

An October 2024 story about Russell Vought captured the breadth and ferocity of the coming attack on the federal government. So why didn’t this story drive more of a national conversation when it appeared?
