For the third time in the Finals, the Valkyries hold the Dream to their lowest point totals of the season. 64 points in game 1, then 62 points in game 4, now 55 in game 5. Valks were also responsible for Dream’s regular-season low of 66. Their regular season average was 91.3 ppg.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

"So the guy called himself a king" *muffled gasps from the panel* "and he sent thousands of soldiers to quarter in my city" *Washington audibly whispers "what the f-"* "and so we, like, formed this system where we'd call up people within a minute or two if they showed up" Paul Revere: hell yes

Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

A scoop from me: CBS-owned local stations' election coverage will be sponsored by DraftKings, a deal that has stirred concern inside the company. www.status.news/p/cbs-draftk...

Q: There's a report that FEMA is telling states to prepare to handle disasters on their own. Any reaction? OSSOFF: So the Trump administration is telling folks across the country to prepare to fend for themselves while taxpayer dollars are sent to back Don Jr & Eric's mining interest in Kazakhstan?

The combo of his mental decline, 24/7 non-stop sycophancy, and the stress of the nearing disastrous midterms are eroding his mask at an accelerating rate. Once the election results come in, it is going to slip completely. He won't be able to hold any of his anger or cruelty in. Worst yet to come.

Amy Acton's brother slams Vivek Ramaswamy featuring her estranged mother in a campaign ad. "This desperate, disgusting attack reveals exactly who Vivek Ramaswamy is at his core – a pathetic excuse for a man who is willing to hurt anyone as long as it gets him what he wants."

Incentivizing Trump voters to call in their suspicions about about black and brown people? What's the worst that could happen?

Nice to see an instance of Deliverism occur in the wild. It was looking like a completely exhaust political science theory after the 2024 election.

"After weighing these factors, Paulk has decided for the first time in his life to cast a ballot for a Democrat -- Ossoff. He doesn't agree with him on all issues -- notably, abortion -- but it's Ossoff's help in getting federal aid after Helene wreaked havoc on Paulk's grape crop that won his vote"

the other thing is that conservatives resolutely do not see the purpose of education as providing social mobility but as reifying and deepening existing inequalities of status. they are as hostile to low income students getting admission to elite institutions as they are black ones.

What’s astounding to me is how β€œthe president builds himself a palace with money given directly to him in secret by the richest people in America,” literally the most straightforward and worst executive-branch corruption story in US history, just gets shrugged at because Trump is unapologetic

Q: You said you're gonna put some of your own money into the ballroom. Are you? TRUMP: I may do that. When they run out, I'll be there, okay?

you can really see the braces around Trump's legs as he staggers across the tarmac today

No, "measles parties" were not really a thing. Chicken Pox parties, yes, were not uncommon. But Chicken Pox was a) mostly just inconvenient for most kids that got it (I speak from personal experience) and b) MUCH more dangerous if contracted later in life. So "get it out of the way forever" was real

Minnesota Republican state Sen. Bill Lieske: "Back in the day when the measles vaccine didn't exist, measles was a joke! ... yes, there are increases cases. How many of those are actually resulting in deaths? Are they just going home with the sniffles? Back in the day, people had measles parties."
