HHS wants a new Medicare code that pays doctors extra only when they attribute a patient’s symptoms to a vaccine. Vaccine critics say doctors are paid to push vaccines. We aren’t. Under this code, we’d be paid to blame them. My new piece in @cidrap.bsky.social: www.cidrap.umn.edu/childhood-va...

In case you hadn't been following this disturbing sequence of events, here's a recap: RFK Jr wanted to fund a randomized trial, run by Danes, involving newborn babies in Guinea-Bissau Ethicists across the world, including in Nigeria, Cameroon, & Ethiopia, were horrified: it's an unethical study

Prof Gavin Yamey MD MPH@gavinyamey.bsky.social

RFK Jr is funding a grotesquely unethical study on newborn babies in Guinea-Bissau; ethicists, pediatricians, clinical trial experts, & infectious disease experts are calling this horrific trial The New Tuskegee. It is unethical to withhold a life saving intervention from half of newborns FFS.

I'm getting several of these emails a day now: an AI agent has found my online profile and emailed me a manuscript, trying—poorly—to make a case that the work is somehow central to my research program. More and more of the papers are themselves utter AI slop. DON'T FUCKING DO THIS, PEOPLE.

It’s scary to think about how, in ~10 years, some unknown but small number of children are going to start having trouble thinking, then losing motor function, then being unable to to swallow or breathe, and then they will die. All because their parents didn’t vaccinate them against measles.

Want to work in a great lab that does amazing science, with a super nice PI? Look no further! Bonus: my lab is their neighbors 😉

Nothing better when I'm in an “everything is awful, science is under attack” slump than having a call with a collaborator, getting super excited about combining our expertise to do cool science! I will keep fighting for future scientists to still get to experience this feeling 💪 #standupforscience

I still struggle with the fact that we now live in a complete post-truth society.

Also, I can’t believe people still need to be told: If you email me that “your research is really interesting to me” without mentioning what about it you find interesting, I assume you are spamming 1000 people with the same email and immediately loose interest.
