It turns out that Canada's federal privacy law, PIPEDA, generally doesn't cover nonprofits when they're conducting noncommercial activities. Now, some provinces, including BC, have their own privacy laws that DO cover nonprofits. But protections vary across Canada. 3/7
Well crap. I just happened to glance at a headline and apparently I now owe all my future income to a media outlet in Georgia.
Well this is eleventy-million kinds of Fucked Up. @latimes.com (who once contracted with me as a freelance reviewer and whom I struggled to get paid by) asserts that *merely reading its website* constitutes a permanent waiver of your right to sue it under *any circumstances*.

We're aware of a phishing attack that has compromised more than 4,500 accounts. The attack spread through posts promoting a fake offer of a government payment. We have temporarily suspended the compromised accounts and are working with their owners to secure them and restore access.

I’ve been paying more attention to sunrises and sunsets lately. That has been intentional. I just find something about first and last light of day to be tranquil and calming. It isn’t so much the sunrise or sunset itself. It’s the act of being present in the observation of the world as it is. 1/

I had planned to see Ed Sheeran in Philadelphia this weekend, but given the current issues, I cancelled my hotel and travel. I don't understand how he hasn't cancelled the appearance given the obvious physical safety concerns, no openers, and no backing band. What a chump. He's lost a fan.

In 1937, Stalin's census found the famine killed millions. His government suppressed the report and shot the statisticians who made it. Three weeks ago, that kind of suppression was illegal in America. Now it isn't. https://newsletter.platypuseconomics.com/p/the-sentence-that-used-to-protect

The muses do not care about age, or anything else physical. They just want two things: 1) To be heard or felt 2) For one to create after listening or feeling.
As long as one is physically/mentally able it's never too late for anything. Also, the oldest winner of the Astounding Award, the award given in sf/f for "best new writer," was 51 years old. It's never too late to start.
