15 years + 3,000 alums later, what started as a 6-person experiment is now a community of curious, kind programmers: engineers, artists, scientists, hobbyists, all united by a love of programming. If 6 or 12 weeks to focus on what truly interests you sounds appealing, apply! www.recurse.com/apply

โ„๏ธ Our Winter 1 Batch is accepting applications through Sunday, October 18. Come spend six or twelve weeks with us! Itโ€™s an exciting time to be building -- what could you do if given the time, space, and community to work on something that youโ€™re really interested in? recurse.com/apply

Our alums are *checks notes* creating posable camera tentacles able to see urban eels, axolotls, and the world's creatures at their eye level. If you're interested in supporting, check it out!->

one of my best new friends just launched this incredible project Alex is inventful, funny, just around a human that you want to be around a lot. he is quite quite quite the best, I think (and also everyone else thinks). support! for the humanness and the fun!! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ex-...

We still need to understand the things we build, so how do we build tools for that understanding? Geoffrey Litt on Margin Notes:

Patrick Thill experimented with vibecoding for the first time and created a new constructed language that was intended to be a) not Eurocentric and b) easy to learn for anyone, regardless of their first language. And that was just one of the many cool projects he worked on during his 12 weeks at RC.

Couldn't make it to RC? Check out the thread below to watch the talks given at @atproto.nyc Community Day 2026!

surprise! We have some VODs from talks at our community day thanks to @stream.place and @iame.li. here's a quick thread of the VODs we got:

If you look really hard at this youโ€™ll see my contribution of bad saxophones and metal chairs making music (and you should anyways because everyone involved is very cool)

Four Recursers built an arcade cabinet that you can ship games to by pushing to GitHub. It has a real CRT with a custom display adapter, and over 50 new games made by the RC community. Watch the full talk on how the RCade was built from the hardware up: www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-Op...

there is a straight line from my @recurse.com batch in 2023 to speaking in front of ~400 peopleโ€”including many personal and professional heroesโ€”at @localfirstconf.com. plus three years of learning, making friends (both online and off) and having a blog that i'm actually proud of. apply for a batch!

Thank you to the Recurse Center @recurse.com for inviting me to install Between at their 15th birthday party! I did a batch last fall and it inspired me to get back into programming while meeting so many smart, generous people. I loved being able to do something fun for the community!

chris s@r1pvanw1nkl3.com

the recurse center (@recurse.com) helped me fall back in love with programming as a tool for self expression, introduced me to dozens and dozens of kind and intelligent people, and then promptly found me a job when i needed one. and this was all free?

Our website automatically updates as more people come to do a batch at the Recurse Center. Today, we finally hit 3,000 people! Thank you to everyone in our growing community! RC couldn't exist without you all. ๐Ÿ‘ซ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿคโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘ฌ

Weโ€™ve kicked off our annual alum reunion, Never Graduate Week 2026! Hundreds of RC alums gather at our Brooklyn hub to give talks, run jams, collaborate on projects, and so much more. Welcome everyone and thank you for coming! Stay tuned for more across the week.
