Activists say Israeli soldiers have prevented them from delivering aid to Palestinians who have been besieged by settlers outside their homes in the occupied West Bank village of Qusra for nearly a week. We spoke to Jonathan Pollak from the Sumud Network.

It is entirely possible to have a friendly conversation with someone who wants to do terrible things to people for stupid and selfish reasons. But why would anyone want to?

Feel like I’m going insane with the revisionist history that Charlie Kirk fostered open debate. He chilled speech and his targeting of professors for wrongthink led to threats, harassment, and being forced out of their jobs. His legacy is chilling speech right now, about him

Shout out to everyone only now learning that "Albert Einstein was reclusive at the end of his career, shunning public engagements." Really meant, "For the last *20 years* of his career, Einstein opposed US racism by only speaking publicly at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

The professor has been fired and senior administrators removed from their post. No mention of this in the New York Times, The Free Press, The Atlantic or other outlets who drove the campus speech moral panic.

In a move that raises very serious First Amendment issues, ICE executed a major splashy operation in California aiming to arrest a guy for posting fliers with names, pictures, and apparent phone numbers for ICE HSI agents. I am struggling to think what possible law posting that info could violate.

Vesting power in an office attracts corruption to that office. For projects at least, we can make that power temporary, and then ban the leader of that project from leading another. For administrative roles, this is less workable, but in most cases their power is already quite siloed.

TLDR: she was crossing from Mexico into California at an official port of entry, but her visa was denied. Rather than simply turn her back, they took her into custody and have been holding her for 11 days. The stupidity of this administration is rivaled only by its cruelty.

The fact Global Affairs are just shrugging their shoulders is shameful. Canada needs to issue a travel advisory alerting Canadians to the fact it’s not safe to travel to the US. vancouversun.com/news/bc-woma...

When TB treatment is interrupted, patients are far more likely to develop drug-resistant TB, which is a catastrophe both individually (the disease becomes harder to cure) and societally (we're allowing the bacteria millions of new opportunities to develop further resistance). Many people will die.

The supremacy clause allows Congress to trump state laws. Since DC is a federal entity, there's nothing over which Congress needs supremacy. Free exercise? 🤷‍♂️ Between general welfare and police power, I would go with police power since the law is only applied to DC.

Mind-boggling wreckage. Among the lifesaving programs now disrupted by Elon’s attack on @USAID: phase 1 trials for a possible HIV vaccine.

“USAID-backed studies have been shuttered, data streams have dried up, researchers and technical staff have been fired or put on leave, a system to predict food crises has been muzzled, and a USAID-supported global health journal has stopped reviewing manuscripts.” From our @science.org news team 🧪

I’ve heard from a source today of USAID funding being stopped at hospitals and clinics for refugees and personnel being recalled or told to stop work resulting in people not getting life saving medical treatment as a result.

🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.

GARY: Cindy, will you marry me? CINDY: I will, Gary. You have been an absolute ninja. This moves the needle in a significant way. GARY: Getting married will represent a huge pivot, but I see it as a quick win, and a real solve.

A mistake occurs when a person draws an incorrect conclusion by either reasoning correctly from incorrect facts, or reasoning incorrectly from correct facts. To claim a mistake was made, you should have to explain the particulars of the mistake, so the answer is A.

The Internet is so good for stuff like mutual aid and keep people informed amid crisis. Like, when I feel despair--and these days I often do--it's a small encouragement to be reminded that when we are proximal to suffering, we are capable of extraordinary generosity.

Here’s the thing: I’m 100% happy to pay for a social media app. Every month. Roll out Bsky Blue tomorrow and I’m in. The problem with Twitter premium wasn’t the premium. The problem was that you would be giving money to manic, drug addled Bond villain.
