This has been my pinned tweet for years but it's as true here as it was there: the highlight of my #gamedev career to date was this spectacular bug from #StarWarsBattlefront Elite Squadron on the #PSP.

Game blooper reels are never not wonderful. What's particularly great is that the skinning issues that cause the monstrous, distorted characters are evergreen.

Making games is hard. On the third anniversary of Alan Wake 2, here's the funniest bugs we sent to the Dark Place. More on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/bh4uFU5f5oo #AlanWake2

You should listen to this. It's amazing. What might have been... 😢

There's a Pinky and the Brain episode where Brain calls out people who think it's classy to put gold on everything ("it's not classy, it's vulgar") and I haven't been able to find it but it pops into my head regularly at the moment for some reason

while you port and emulate games, I ported Jira to my PSP

My Bioware romances, a short history: BG1: Failed (too busy being evil) BG2: Failed (see above) KotoR: Failed (wasn't paying attention) NeverWinter Nights: Succeeded (Aarin Gend) Jade Empire: Failed (too busy being e-, er, following the Path of the Closed Fist)

Mass Effect: Failed (hedged my bets, got nowhere) Dragon Age: Failed (wasn't paying attention) Mass Effect (2nd playthrough): Succeeded (Liara) Mass Effect 2: Failed (Liara ghosted me) Mass Effect 3: Failed (busy dying) SWToR: A big red guy followed me around? Does that count?

Games are made by people and game studios are made of people but game studios are also made of institutional knowledge, continuity, practices, standards, technology, resources, and IP. And those things do mean something, and it is a loss when they're discarded.

I loved this mini-series back in the day. It's a cool, simple story about a misfit character finding a place for themselves and in the process their own self-esteem. The magazine-style covers were awesome in themselves.

Sidebar anecdote about the time the writers of Final Night were handed a list of "OK to kill" characters, and their reaction was "that's terrible" and they instead gave Inferno a bigger role in the story and a solo mini afterwards (dc.fandom.com/wiki/Inferno...)

I came late to the Mass Effect universe, picking up ME2 on a whim. But have since played them through many times.Such an incredible gameplay experience one that opened my eyes to how cinematic, expansive, thought provoking and moving games could be. I'm devastated at the Bioware shut down news.

Jesus. What a crime.

EA is closing BioWare - the acclaimed studio behind Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Anthem, Baldur's Gate, and Star Wars: KotoR. 400 people have been laid off, with the new Mass Effect game now cancelled. EA was recently acquired by Saudi Arabia for $55bn. (Read more at Bloomberg)

Nighthawks, like Cyberpunk before it, is one of those games that is a bit of a lottery when it comes to playing at my desk in the office. There I was, happily going about my business as a vampire badass when I was invited to jump into a hot tub and enjoy a 'delicious boy'. 🧐

Genuinely enjoying Nighthawks more and more as my playthrough continues. Finished the first act, time to start my 'evil badass' phase.

We know, we know… it’s been a little quiet around here In our defence, the last time we resurfaced, it took 437 years. We’ll try not to keep you waiting quite that long this time… #MaryRose

I love it when some training material or advert starts with 'In today's fast paced work environment', implying that folks in the past just lounged around the office not giving a shit.

This actually promoted me to clear out some space and downgrade to the 'Standard' 200Gb version so thanks, I guess?

I had a Google One account for cloud storage. At some point they turned it into an AI Plus account and now they keep sending me messages explaining how they've further enshittified their AI offering. I have never used it once.

Google trying to upsell me their AI after I downgraded. The example question was 'help me pack for a campaign trip'. If you don't know you need a tent and sleeping bags to go camping you probably shouldn't be going camping. Or leaving the house.
