I watched COYOTE VS ACME and realized that most of the toon voices, including Bugs, Daffy, Tweety, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Road Runner, and Foghorn Leghorn were Eric Bauza. That man basically carried the whole show.
Oh, that was extremely good. One must imagine the Coyote happy...
A certain amount of the material is built on knowledge of Looney Tunes lore so I'd love to know how it flies for a first timer. I feel like there's enough going on that everyone can enjoy, but I am of course biased
People mock his delivery but that's mostly memetic exaggeration, if you sit down and watch he's actually delivering the horrible lines he was given in a way that actually makes them sound authentic.
When he pauses (not as often as people think) it's because the character doesn't have a script.
So it's kind of a thing, we don't really talk about Kirt or Shatner so much when talking about Star Trek.
But I did a bit of a dive into some clips recently, and damn, all his issues aside, it's kind of remarkable how adroit Shatner is at playing Kirk.
It's really impressive.
The pauses are in big, important speeches and addresses where his words will have real consequences, so he's considering them carefully.
Most of the rest of the time he bright, quick witted, and honestly sparkling on the screen.
I'm not a big Kirk fan but he had undeniable screen presence.
Got an ad inviting me to "See Bill Bailey live in London!"
I will never get tired of intentionally misreading "live" (not pre-recorded) as "live" (reside)
a UK food delivery service experimented with AI-generated images for restaurant menu items that lacked pictures. they stopped when customers reported seeing some unusual new dishes.
a tiger-prawn dish became a bowl containing actual tiger cubs.
friends, i think the tech may not be ready.
There's a Pinky and the Brain episode where Brain calls out people who think it's classy to put gold on everything ("it's not classy, it's vulgar") and I haven't been able to find it but it pops into my head regularly at the moment for some reason
Huh, since they're packaged together in the remaster, I assumed Assassin's Creed 3 and Liberation were the same engine (like 4 and Freedom Cry). But 3 has that massive screen space reflection halo, and Liberation's reflections go all the way to the edge
calling monsters “creatures of the night” sounds like going outside after 6 pm is evil. i’m not a dracula because i'm enjoying a lovely dinner. i’m a dracula because they did experiments on me
The GenAI videos are much better than they used to be - especially at humans - but they still don't know how things like "mirrors" and "bananas" work. Object permanence in general remains a weakness
So you look across time, and it feels like a rise and fall. It's 30 years. A lifetime.
But at the same time, you look at - say - what Larian has achieved with Baldur's Gate 3, and you can't help be aware how badly Electronic Arts fucked up with the stewardship of Bioware.
The nice part about Feedly being inexplicably unable to read the DumbingofAge RSS feed is that I get to read like a month's worth at once

The little "confession" scenes in Assassin's Creed - I always read them as, having sufficiently synchronised with your ancestor, you've unlocked the memory of what was said in that moment.
Baffled that by later games it became a diegetic, metaphysical communion in an abstract mental plane
i said that if I ever got to my third novel then I would permit myself a really gay one, and I am pleased to announce that I have packed a truly immersion-shattering number of homosexual warriors and wizards into this book

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting?
For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.
one memorable nightmare I had was I found a machine that would tell you the day you died. mine was like a decade in the future.
I looked up my wife's. To my surprise, it was the same date.
I looked up my kids': same date. My neighbors: also the same date. Then I looked up Xi Jinping: same date.
I've had a thing in the back of my head about how fun it would be to cosplay Jubilee, genderflipped obviously. A big old yellow coat, pink shades and vest, and I guess black/blue shorts and boots?
But recently I'm thinking like ... is that appropriate for a white guy
Jubilee's heritage is so inconsistently depicted that it took me a while to even remember she's generally asian and like
it feels like appropriation
Like I would not even think of going out there as Blade or Storm, it's blackface in all but name. Why would I do it to Jubilee?

And I know the general principle is "cosplay is not restricted by gender or race" which is fine for people who aren't White Guys not being restricted to Their Own Characteristics, freeing the White Guy Characters from the White Guy Ghetto, but I'm less comfortable with the reverse

SCREAM 7: YEAH?
SCREAM 7: GHOSTFACE WAS ALMOST THE BARISTA AT THE STARBUCKS.
SCREAM 7: I HATE MY AUDIENCE SO MUCH.
