For the better part of a century, the foundation of the republicant party–the great given of its existence–has been its racism, the othering of non-WASPS. Their contemporary honesty emerges from a sense of power and inevitability. Let's shovel their racism/ethnocentrism to the slag heap of history.
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

A single billionaire megadonor is propping up the Republican effort to stop Dems from flipping Pennsylvania’s Senate and gaining full control of government—to a much greater degree than Elon Musk is doing it at the federal level
Via @stephenjcaruso.bsky.social, who really should post here more than there, I'm counting $8.52M from Jeffrey Yass to try to preserve a GOP state senate majority in PA (candidate giving, SRCC, and State GOP) and another $1.1M to stanch the bleeding in the state house, where Dems lead 103-100.

At some point, all but the least-recoverable cultists are going to realize there is nothing behind any of the curtains. The last two years are leading up to that point: next Tuesday. Vote!
It’s amazing that MAGA labels every election result is doesn’t like as “stolen” or an example of “fraud “, but when Putin “wins” almost 90% of the vote in his crooked elections, they don’t make a peep.

This is a quick, excellent thread from someone who has their pulse on European/global energy realities. We are so excited to be putting solar on our new home to power it and to charge our 2 EVs. But it's not a movement anymore. It's practical, simple reality FOR THOSE WHO CAN AFFORD IT. Need more!

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...
Max Weber once observed that the winner in a war only needs to get rid of the top-level bureaucrats (so party officials and sycophants) to begin effectively running a conquered land. Maybe there's a corollary here: Congress can't "get rid of" Klanprez's cronies, but it can go around them. Excellent!
Dems also planning aggressive investigations into Trump's illicit prosecutions: Subpoenas on internal comms and on mid-level actors carrying out his corrupt orders. “Everybody involved from top to bottom will be subject to legislative investigation," Raskin says. newrepublic.com/article/2171...
Democracy: too precious to not fight for. The Founders understood, Georgians (there and here) understand, and so must we.
Meanwhile, pro-democracy, pro-Europe protesters in Tbilisi, Georgia, are tonight nearing their 700th consecutive day of protest against the pro-Russian government. They haven't missed a single day in the last 23 months.
Hey, anything we can do to help the oil scum. This approach is not how I saw Klanprez's attempt to rival Nixon as the greatest-ever environmental president developing. Of course, I never saw him doing jack for the environment at all, so there's that.
Oil importers have saved billions since the start of the war in Iran because of electric vehicles.
Then I scrolled two messages down to find this doozy: enkiai.com/trump-energy...

Best day for democracy worldwide in quite some time: Brazil’s center-left president won the runoff in an upset, blocking the far-right from gaining unified power. Serbia’s right-wing authoritarian government finally lost control of parliament after more than a decade in power
Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.
All the courage of a sniveling Nazi staring at the point of a democratic bayonet. Send him to hell with your votes, Michigan.
WELKER: Is a vote for you a vote for the Trump agenda? MIKE ROGERS: Um, I'm apologizing. I'm having some difficultly in my earpiece. But is a vote for you? I'm not sure. I'll tell you what a vote for me is. It's a great day for the state of Michigan

this is total gobbledygook? the process to decide who should be certified as the winner is the election, and there is no federal law that says the courts get to decide who that is.
Blanche on CBS says his suit against Alaska is "asking the court to step in where the Alaska Supreme Court didn't, which is to look at federal law and if necessary to allow a process for Alaska to decide who should be certified as the winner." (So, the voters won't get to decide. Got it.)

Remember when Media & Political Elite promised US that Trump was tapping into “economic anxiety” not racism?

Want to know how we got Klanprez? It was DECADES of gop shit like this. Lies, massive distortions, unapologetic distortions because they have no ideas, only a lust for power to preserve their immense privilege. It pushed the right to the extreme right. And voila.
It seems impossible for our political system to hold the politicians tied to the actual invasion of our Capitol to account, but any random Muslim candidate is reflexively labeled a terrorist.

Klanprez is killing Americans and enriching himself. Clean air and water are basic stuff. In his case, they are the base stuff of The Corruption.
JUST POSTED: Today at The NYT we are publishing a major investigation into how President Trump used his executive powers to expose millions of Americans to greater cancer risks. A six month-long investigation built on more than 10,000 pages of FOIA records. Read it www.nytimes.com/2026/10/24/c...

In the MAGA mind, Trump's vicious abuse of female reporters is simply of a piece with the rape ad itself: It's all a bet that MAGA misogyny and depravity are still political winners. Flagged by @atrupar.com:
The deeper reason Trump, Vance, and Ramaswamy are backing the vile rape ad is they think MAGA politics—the cruelty, the depravity, the viciousness—is still ascendant. They think doing this esesentially puts Trump on the ballot. Me and @jimswift.bsky.social on this: newrepublic.com/article/2169...

Q: There's a report that FEMA is telling states to prepare to handle disasters on their own. Any reaction? OSSOFF: So the Trump administration is telling folks across the country to prepare to fend for themselves while taxpayer dollars are sent to back Don Jr & Eric's mining interest in Kazakhstan?
