When cis people talk about what rights trans people should have, it's always done with the unspoken context that trans people CHOSE to be trans. But we ARE trans. Not ACTING trans. And medical professionals concluded overwhelmingly that the healthiest thing for us to do is transition.

I hope Sam Reich comes out as queer sometime. Not for any reason other than when he does he can announce it with "I've been queer the whole time!"

Today in AI bro complaining about being bulliet in pokemon romhacking spaces: We are harassing AI bros like how other people harass queer people and thus we should not be mean to them at all absolutely crazy

Twitch continues to do our marketing for us I see. "we don't want to make our own tools, bet we can get someone else to pay for the LLM slop too" - twitch probably. Meanwhile, our site is made by a single human dev with assistance from community members who actually know what they're doing.

OpenAI and Twitch are teaming up to see what developers can build for the Twitch community with AI. The top five will be featured at Twitchcon.

People are like "be careful of that trans woman, she was socialised male so she's dangerous" and then you look at her and see the most timid creature in the world who has never heard "I love you" from someone who didn't hurt her

The bluesky devs hate that this platform became a haven for queer folk, sex workers, and furries becuase we aren't the audience that appreciates or participates in their preferred grifter tech. This place was built on weird crypto dreams and later AI fervor.

Glad to see staff is so considerate to newer gamers in advance of the OoT remake. Not everyone has played through the game before, it's a lot harder to spoil the later temples when bluesky is blocking adult Links.

you're never going to undo the effects of decades of abuse by finding the right words to say or the right kind gesture to do one random morning. keep showing up anyway. that's how you help. even when you don't see that it's helping. especially when you don't see that it's helping.

Part of the reason so many people were charitable to the Steam Machine despite the price is they made the first mainstream non-Baby Computer console since like those Japanese PCs in the early 90s or the PS3 when you could install Linux and the government used them for military shit

Gonna go up and kick a bees nest, but a lot of trans women are still really into Five Nights at Freddies. Then they'll say "fuck people still into Harry Potter" with their whole chest, and I think that sucks. You can be better than that, I feel.

Over the last 10 years (and amplified in the last 5) it has been appalling what people are willing to give up for the sake of perceived convenience. And what people will ignore and allow instead of confront.

I really don't believe there is a point of compromise on AI. Peeling back from the argument of theft (it is), the environmental impact is immense and unlikely to be reversed in our lifetime. You cannot divorce even the most innocuous AI operation from this fact.

i've recently heard that some ai bros want to make an smw central alternative because we don't allow gen ai content on the site. here's my direct response to those people. "who owns rom hacking?" and other questions ai poisons us with shoujo.gay/who-owns-rom...

unfortunately this 1) doesn't solve the problem of not knowing if a given song is slop, and 2) is peanuts compared to the harm caused by spotify ceo daniel ek's financial investments in ai-powered military weapons it's almost certainly a scheme to make them look appealing spotify won't win me back

Spotify has also made changes to its music recommendation system to highlight songs from human artists. www.theverge.com/entertainmen...

I think I'll just point to this in future if my stance on GenAI usage is questioned. This is regarding the latest "random dumbfuck posts Claude recomp in a community space" I had to endure live, and how I was not charitable in my direct responses to them.

Don't let billionaires convince you slop is the future. They're used to managing & directing, not making things themselves. Of course they can't see the difference. They don't understand your love for the craft. Keep making personal, beautiful games. You've got my support 💖

Something that I've been thinking about, dating back to when I took a neural networks class in college: Math doesn't have feelings. It doesn't matter how complex the math is, it doesn't matter if it outputs "ouch" and it doesn't matter if it reflects back our own feelings. It's still just math.

they should invent a kind of brain that is good for the end user

warioware diy music maestro is gen ai (you give it a prompt, it gives you a piece someone wrote for the purpose of fulfilling that prompt, categorised by humans, presented as if the maestro wrote it itself)

few things to say - code is art, developers are artists - gen ai has no awareness or knowledge, much the same as any machine learning algorithm - gen ai has no artistic intention, therefore it cannot create, therefore anything it produces is stolen

i don't want my art to be stolen, therefore i'm against the use of gen ai there is no ethical usage of llms/gen ai as they currently exist

also, ais are not conscious, because there's no evidential basis to say they are they don't even so much as *emulate* something conscious -- if they did, that would be a better argument, BUT that would also clearly be unethical claiming ais are conscious is speculation at best and deceit at worst

GenAI is good at exactly one thing, and that's finding new and interesting ways for me to hate it and everyone responsible for its creation and continued existence.

desperately wanna get rid of this github handle by switching to @riverpaper.itch.io, but can't because i haven't yet spent $10 on itch and i'm not in a position to do that
