Attention journalists in #Australia, when a political party - like One Nation - publishes a “cartoon” attacking their political opponents for political gain this is not satire. If you describe it as that you simply don’t understand politics. It’s propaganda. This is basic stuff.

What is the Mont Pelerin Society? I covered it extensively in this piece earlier this year, on the history of neoliberalism. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-01...

Thanks to the 🕵️‍♀️ who sent me this screenshot. The Mont Pelerin Society, from 1947, worked to present itself as all-intellectual as it devised the structure that made neoliberalism. Long been diluted. Now it has Katherine Deves with Helen Dale. 😵‍💫 #Auspol lucyham29.substack.com/p/the-atlas-...

Trump White House misspells “United” on the official “super intelligence” document with AI executives. Instead of “President of the United States,” it reads: “President of the Unites States.” Nothing says “super intelligence” quite like misspelling the name of the country.

One more totally fucking nuts graph for today, care of a request by @leonsimons.com. Not only is the current standard deviation for the Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature above 4SD over the 1982-2011 mean for the first time on record, but no previous year even reached 3SD.

Pauline Hanson's policy to turn the superannuation scheme “into an ATM” would make a median full-time worker $25,000 poorer, the Super Members Council says. The council’s chief executive officer, Misha Schubert, said it was “a reckless idea”: Yeah, Pauline really cares about the average Aussie🙃

An idiotic policy, designed to appeal to an ignorant & desperate section of the electorate. So of course, the murdoch gutter media gets right behind it. Pathetic.

"Sydney's maximums ...are on track to [be].... warmer than any other start to spring since the Observatory Hill station opened in the 1850s." Thanks Tom. And yet, there's no mention of what might be causing such abnormal weather? 🤔 Why not? #climatechange www.abc.net.au/news/2026-09...

A major issue the U.S. refuses to address is widespread media and functional illiteracy, making propaganda and disinformation easy to spread and manipulate public opinion. Corporations and politicians can even manufacture “grassroots” movements to undermine their competition.

More evidence - if we needed it - that One Nation is unfit for any form of leadership at a federal or state level. Homophobic, anti-choice, xenophobic, incoherent. It’s absolutely critical that those of us who believe in a diverse, accepting and generous 🇦🇺 stand against this divisive negativity.
