Hey, I've still got this account on here- hope it becomes a proper twitter replacement, now that it allows video I think it should be a lot more appealing to animators. I'm gonna try to post the same mix of oscillating between mainly dino and scifi content and my own 3D art that I post elsewhere.

~10 years later I also did another Valkyrie model, but this time it was a low poly one for a StarCraft 2 mod. This one is almost completely spot-on to the proportions of the real original one, but is done in a more stylized game asset style, I haven't tried to make a 'cinematic'-style one again.

A little throwback, this is what my 3D skills were like back in 2014, on a model of the Valkyrie missile frigate from StarCraft Brood War. Textured in GIMP and rendered in Mental Ray. A bit amateurish but projects like this were a good stepping stone!

It might show a very dated view of prehistoric life but it’s so iconic and so phenomenal in technical terms that it’s universally loved and admired. The attached photo, by Dan Renzetti, gives you some idea of the size of this work… #dinosaurs #paleoart #palaeoart 2/n

Little more Y-wing texturing progress on a previously-neglected part, needed some more sooty streaks in the rings at the ends of the engines. The kind of incremental progress that wouldn't be noticeable from a distance / without a direct comparison, but matters.

Throwback to when I made very low poly Star Wars ships and just textured everything on, this Rebels-style A-wing was probably the best of those.

Check out some of Oliviaaaaaah's great work (and also hire her!) www.artstation.com/discopears

If you happen to have leads on Env / Prop Artist openings, I've shipped two indie games as the Lead Artist on both & love what I do. I'm open to commissions too & you also can support me on my ko-fi: ko-fi.com/discopears Even just words of encouragement and support right now would go a long way. ❤️

(In addition to having a photoreal CGI raptor,) this shot in Jurassic Park has the first digital face replacement in a movie, with Lex's face composited over a stuntwoman.

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

Didn't really do much of anything more to look at yet, mainly worked on the non-textured stuff, but here are a couple more renders of these bits again.

A while back I did some fake bad photography-style 3D renders of some of my scifi fan art models, and I am definitely itching to have the Y-wing in there since it is the most physical model-looking of my models yet... but I will try to make myself wait until it is finished to keep up the momentum.

Some fun impact frame stuff in that new K/DA music video by Fortiche- what do you do when the regular shot already has crazy exaggerated flashing colors, a mix of 3d and hand drawn fx, particles, lens dirt, etc? Push the contrast even further and flash 1 frame of graffiti tag-style text into the fx.

unJPEG update: might replace a texture or two, but Link's house is basically done!

Concept art for Boga the varactyl's feathers from Star Wars Episode III, and a close up lookdev render of the movie asset's head.

Everything here is still WIP, but here is some more Y-wing progress, with some WIP textures on the wing pylon things. I'll also revisit the engines with a little more stuff after I've done more of the body.

All still WIP, another small update. Still some more stuff to fix on the wing pylon parts, but I did the step of adding a bunch of little decals on all sides of them. You can barely tell I did anything! But in theory it'll add more depth/richness even if it's subconscious.

Continuing on to final more parts... The white parts have final locked UV layouts, gray is still ongoing. The astromech is already done because I just plan on reusing a very low poly one I did a few years ago, I made a few colorschemes for them back in the day. Just textured on all the body panels.

Show your pfp in its full glory! A few years ago I tried to make a Linhenykus dinosaur model to try out some fuzzy dino feathers in Blender, and didn't get a result I was happy with. So I just did a render with super shallow depth of field. In the bg out of focus are also some low res Pinacosaurus.

Pass it along - please let us see your pfp in its full glory! Okey

Creative Assembly / SEGA just released a "remaster" of a 2011 game (Total War: Shogun 2) that appeared to be mostly done by AI, complete with six-fingered samurai art and new code with game-breaking bugs. 48 hours and a 17% positive review score later, they're pulling it from all stores.

A few WIP composites featuring various physical studio models—such as a replica of the Galaxy-class main shuttle bay miniature as seen in TNG "Cause and Effect," a Galaxy-class starship, and a Type 6 shuttle—along with other ready-made models from the former manufacturer Eaglemoss used for bg.

Some of the different OT Star Wars Y-wing models that have influences on mine. I deliberately took a bunch of bits that weren't from the most-common ANH hero studio models so that I wouldn't feel any pressure about accuracy/trying to match things up exactly, or competing with other people's models.

Also a random bit of Y-wing trivia, the markings on their cockpits are their number, like how the X-wings have number stripes on their wings. So Gold Leader has 1 unbroken blue canopy, Gold 2's is split into 2 blue fields, Gold 3's was split into 3, and, uh, Gold 5 just abandoned that colorscheme.

Hey #portfolioday Im Tom a Freelance 3D/Environment artist. Comfortable working in a variety of styles! I am always on the look out for new Part-time/Full-time work!

Look at this great Peahat Larva model from the Ocarina of Time Remake. Love the vibrant colors, the shape of those razor-sharp spinning leaves, and the stylized yet plausible-looking plant anatomy. Looks like those leaves really would cut you, but also that a child with a sword could defeat it!

Pretty much done with the Y-wing engine texturing! You can just kind of visualize the rest of the ship being done, right? I don't need to do that same amount of work like 5 more times over? 😅

The outside is allllmost done and ready for textures, still just doing a few more tweaks and details and UV stuff and figuring out the best way to split it up with the same texel density as the engines. ...Then there's more stuff to do, but that'll be a good milestone.

Went back and did a little more on the refining/detailing of the carapace. Right is the old model I did in 2020, left is the still-in-progress update. Have to weigh how much to make it look like it could still fit in with what they would have designed in the late 90s.

Just had the closest finish EVER vs Ark “Bumpy” Roose in that new Star Wars racing game everyone’s been talking about. Less than a second away from overheating with that final boost, the alarm going at the finish line is what plays before it explodes. Srry for poor footage it’s hard to film and play
