i’m pretty sure social algorithms are just the perfection of chain e-mails. sure you don’t always message a post link to someone, but you give it attention which automatically does the forwarding part for you. and y’all, chain e-mails sucked. right?

i like to think of myself as fairly informed, but for some reason i just realized michele tafoya is the same human i know from the sportsball. 🤯 1) no. 2) R’s really going all in on the popularity contest, particularly sports people?

we had all decided, or been told, that we should work to be our best. instead of all getting healthier together, we blew it. we took a chance on a work ethic and ended up distributing $1 trillion to a space ranger and advertising during “hydration breaks.”

can’t decide if the impending thunderstorm is actually a thing… or if fellow minnesotans are just losing their minds like when the first snow flies and we all forget how to drive?

finally got a weather alert, so it must be a thing. but people around me today just could. not. stop. talking about the big storm (that i had no idea was supposed to happen).

this isn’t an animal, obviously, but check out this pepper plant! it was a branch that broke off one in our garden last summer. on a whim, we put it in our aquaponic system and it rooted and now it’s producing real life peppers! who knew?

meet loretta. one of our first ducks and the only still with us from our original three. she molts whenever the hell she wants, and reminds me it’s time when it’s time.

this alt halftime thing is apparently throwing some wild shade at bad bunny for speaking against ice, but they picked the guy who sang “young ladies, i like ‘em underage” as their headliner of choice for “[entire families]” of folks “who love america?” what a wild timeline.

I have never loved Minneapolis more than I do in this moment.

brass solidarity band performing “stand by me” in the streets of whittier next to alex pretti’s memorial. the crowd started chanting “the people united will never be defeated” so they incorporated it into the song. i love minneapolis

this thread is exactly the best of what i have experienced living in minnesota. somehow i believe we’re built for this moment.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

re: the spotify thing. this legitimately sucks for artists. and it sucks for everyone who makes a living in any aspect of making records, but particularly the real work being done by small and independent artists. but if you’re a big or flashy company, go nuts! ignore the rules and take advantage

the record industry at large dug themselves into a hole by taking advantage of artists with streaming. they dug deeper as they played with ai. spotify was by far the worst offender so i guess ironic it was their data.
