Supermarkets in the U.K. have one of 2 opportunities. Either they could jack up the prices of tinned goods and water etc OR they could offer a ‘resilience range’ of the same at reduced prices to help everyone assemble their provisions. Imagine the goodwill the latter would generate. But will they?

Wonder if any supermarkets have the marketing nouse to offer a ‘resilience range’ of suitable tinned goods, water, medicines and so forth, at discounted prices to help everyone fall in with Wes Streeting’s warning to prepare. Just think of the goodwill and warm feelings such a move would generate!

Allegedly Sainsbury’s made c £1bn profit this year. They will not be alone. Can we hope for some meaningful reductions on tinned goods and water etc to help us lay stocks following Wes Streeting’s urging to prepare for trouble? That would be socially responsible - if maybe unlikely?

My fave comment so far after the ITV documentary is ‘There’s no room for racists in Reform in the same way that there is no room for a sardine in a tin that’s already full of sardines’ . Damned if I can find it again for the credit it deserves..

Do we think that Putin would be a worthy recipient of the second FIFA Peace Prize in honour of his apparent humanitarian achievements?

I think the few media who are mentioning ITV’s Reform documentary are missing the point. Yes the various racists were shocking and the misogynists awful, (but not surprising). What WAS revealing is how Reform use their vetting to suppress both until AFTER the next election-not kick candidates out!

It’s almost laughable how the few media that are paying any attention to last night’s Reform documentary are framing it as ‘questions over their vetting’. The vetting in reality consists of ensuring they’ll keep a lid on their extreme racism until after the election. That’s it. No more. No less

Farage says there’s no room for racism in his party. Is that in the same way there’s no room for another sardine in a tin of sardines?

Last night’s ITV documentary blew a massive hole in Farage and Reform claims that Reform has no room for racism. Rather it has no room for those who express extremist racist views until AFTER they are elected. Then it will be open season for the fascists.

What came across loud and clear from ITV’s documentary tonight was that Farage et al DO espouse the vile views of their hard of thinking foot soldiers but know they have to appear moderate until they are elected. They even train the racists in how to not appear racist in public.

Fucking Hell ... Reform aren't a reputable political party with a few "bad apples spoiling the barrel". The barrel is made of rotting meat, filled with salmonella infused maggoty raw chicken, raw sewage and dog shit. Reform is a racist party ... and the people in it are racist to the core.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social you are going to need a Shaggy “It wasn’t me” button for tomorrows show. No idea how Farage is going to claim he didn’t know when he is literally on camera, across the desk from the reporter, laying out the strategy in person…

@itvpeston.bsky.social still pretending that Farage and Jenrick don’t share the racist and misogynistic views of those revealed in ITV’s documentary tonight. This is their own political editor excusing two of the most unpleasant individuals ever to take any role in U.K. politics. Shameful.

All over the West, people are finally joining the dots between their own cost of living crises and the vast almost unimaginable fortunes of the so-called oligarchs. The tone of the debate is changing. Resentment is building.

Not everyone wants to be a squillionaire. Just a reasonable standard of living with the basics - a secure home, affordable transport, adequate and decent food, a health service and a safety net for if things go wrong, and if possible less month left at the end of the money.

@itvnews teasing still more findings of racism at Reform this evening, including the revelation that the board at the top share these views but it can’t of course be said publicly. ‘No room in Reform for racism’ their statement said. Yeah right… ! Sunday 10.20pm for the full documentary.

In the light of the excess deaths in Ukraine due to Musk’s restrictions on Starlink, it seems to me that anyone buying ANY Tesla now is acquiescing in those deaths. Tesla and Musk deserve nothing less than a total boycott.

I reckon that the next few weeks in the USA will be let’s say ‘challenging’ Best avoided I’d say whilst the midterms and the almost inevitable fallout play out.

"The numbers suggest that the collapse of the United States’ tourism industry is accelerating, thanks to Trump, MAGA, the GOP’s extreme xenophobia, and their belief that there’s no problem you can’t brutalize your way out of." — @brynntannehill.bsky.social

Anyone else thinking that Musk (for it was he according to reports this evening) limited speeds on Starlink in revenge for Ukraine knocking out those Russian bot data centres?

The more we learn about Reform’s nasty vile racism and outright inhumanity towards their fellow people the more it seems a perfect fit for Robert Jenrick.

Why would Farridge and Tice etc really engage in vetting to weed out racists from Reform when the entire enterprise going way back when has been predicated on attracting them? Remove the racism and there is literally nothing left.

🚨President Z is taking out “data centers” that run Putin’s bot farms just three weeks before the U.S. midterms. After the third strike on Yandex's data center, Russian bot activity dropped to zero. This is why Trump and Musk are calling for President Z’s removal. It has nothing to do with diesel.

I’m in the U.K. so don’t claim to know much about how it really feels in the USA right now. But it seems to me the next few weeks will be critical to not just the US but the rest of the world. I’m not sure where this will lead if the utter madman you guys call President is not curtailed and quickly.

I understand wholesale fuel prices have fallen by up to 6p a litre since Europe released some of its reserves. I do hope the fuel companies have made adequate zillions this quarter and will play the game and drop pump prices accordingly and smartish - but I won’t hold my breath.

If anyone was in any doubt as to the evil which controls Trump et al, the public broadcast of the execution of a man on death row and the ease with which he betrayed Ukraine and the US former allies with Putin’s oil should put that doubt to bed. Satan’s little helper.

Is it too Machiavellian to wonder if the cops ‘mess up’ with Andrew’s search warrants was by design. Funny how nothing sticks as soon as Epstein’s name is involved.

Just a thought but if the first experience of migrants arriving in the U.K. is a bunch of hard of thinking types baying their opposition to their presence, how does this help in dissuading the odd one or two from potential radical actions later?

For any confused Americans, dogging is a traditional British term for walking the dog, if you're ever over here and see someone with their pet make sure to tell them how much you love dogging. That nothing makes you happier than seeing that wagging tail and panting mouth out on the heath.

Did you know that a Farage Reform govt intends to scrap the NHS? The private health care system he wants to introduce would cost you £10,000s, like the US, where getting ill can bankrupt you. #ReformUK #Labour #GreenParty #Newcastle #SAFC #NUFC

This is what I think will happen. People got used to the idea of voting ‘against’ last time around. The target will change from stopping the Tories to stopping Farage & Reform.

EXC - We *also* have an MRP out today - which has some very striking findings. Progressives who vote tactically to stop Nigel Farage’s Reform UK could push his party into FOURTH place. The poll also shows Burnham’s Labour is winning back left-leaning voters. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Good. Now arrest those who were with him for conspiracy, and then arrest those who tried to set fire to a hotel for arson. And then proscribe the group as a terrorist organisation. Which is what you are if you use violence for political ends. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Great to hear the PM say “We are going to be much prouder in standing up for our values and the rule of law” re foreign information warfare. I wonder if he or the Home Secretary might consider doing the same when it comes to masked vigilantes shutting down infrastructure and harassing the RNLI

Really excellent thread this. Police would do well to read it. And Mahmood. And Burnham.
