I see this kind of posting all the time in Australia when the coalition or one nation etc lead on first preferences, but then after allocating full preferences they and up behind. And then they'll try and claim that this is proof the system is rigged and we should abolish preferential voting. lol

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover. As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible. PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.

I will never vote for an anti-transgender Democrat like Josh Turek and you should not either. I'll probably be writing my case to abstain from a handful of races like his on Monday. Josh Turek is showing the exact slippery slope I've called out, in real time.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

So, turns out deep multi-layer hand rips are a different beast to their more superficial brethren. I had just been applying wound gel but overnight it clearly dried out too much and I swear it was like someone had taken a blowtorch to my left hand.

Daily Heil furious that UK woman moves across the world to get paid more, in a lovely seaside town in north central NSW, in a jurisdiction that actually supports her basic rights. Cope and seethe you nazi cunts.

Another one here where the British press just smashed fuck out of a member of the public’s life for no good reason, just because they wanted to and nobody will stop them doing at. And they’re still going, even now.

"another gender storm" So likely someone found a comment by an individual, or their family member, and tried to whip up a storm. Specifically in a system where it was just ruled last month by the courts that having to disclose former names to recruitment/admin is indirect discrimination.

Assuming the timing of this accidental, and that they're digging up Dr Upton again because they successfully targetted her in the UK, and it's the far right trying to flail around in the face of the Australian legal system repeatedly telling them to go fuck themselves

I will say, I absolutely could not have gone beyond the 98 today. My left hand is fully cooked atm still, and my right forearm was absolutely gone by the end. 10/10 would hit 3 PRs and completely demolish myself giving it everything on the last event again

New PR on the snatch test too, 98 x reps @ 24kg Would have reached the 100 if not for the massive double rip on my left hand at rep 8 on my final set of 8 on that side, which made me fail that rep and gave to try and make up the additional reps on my right which just locked up fully at the end

I think owning a super yacht should disqualify you from being able to have a published opinion on anything. Oh you want to spend over $100m on a boat? Seems like a disgustingly obscene display of gratuitous wealth, but I guess at least we can now stop paying attention to you

Being able to read all the various articles that have been quickly fired off after those results got leaked, and fully understand what everything means in the more technical sections really drives home how much my brain absorbed while helping my wife study for their radiation oncology exams lol

Also the "risk cut by almost half" statement is a lottle misleading, that headline figure is based on the 42% reduction in risk of recurrence or death within 2yrs vs using Pembrolizumab alone. Using pembro alone already gave a 70% 2yr recurrence free survival, with addition of this taking it to 82%.

Like there is no reason my brain needs to know that Pembrolizumab is an immune checkpoint inhibitor, specifically blocking the PD-1 receptor on T cells, which interrupts a process by which cancer cells can deactivate them.

Setting the “trans rights movement” back a decade would actually be an improvement tbh

Florid Man@humintel.bsky.social

You have that right. You simply don't have the right to dictate how others feel. And by attempting to do so, you're setting the movement back a decade. That is also well within your purview. I'll always support human rights for any community equally. Nobody is special.

Worth noting with this, it's not a vaccine in the sense of "take this x times and never get melanoma", it's a therapy used after surgical excision of your existing melanoma has occured. Then, using the removed tissue target mutations specific to your cancer are encoded into synthetic mrna

It's still great news for how far we've come with cancer immunotherapy in recent years, and has some amazing potential for further improving cancer outcomes for patients, but it's much more of a step progression in outcomes than the huge jump that the reporting might otherwise suggest

Airbnb was amazing when we did our 3 month road trip around Europe before moving to Australia. I can't imagine trying to use it for that now, every stay would now be a nightmare of stressing over trying to avoid them trying to charge a bunch of extra fees.

Mike Drucker@mikedrucker.bsky.social

Airbnb went from a cheap way to crash in a spare bedroom or rent a vacation house for a weekend and turned into "what if hotels openly hated you and acted like they were doing you a favor by letting you give them hundreds of dollars to stay there, and also it's more expensive"

Instead of hosts who seemed excited about you enjoying their home town and giving you a few extra bits and pieces (like in Vienna we got given a tray of breakfast items so we didn't have to stress about getting any food for the morning, or Tuscany where they had olive oil from their own olive grove)

You know what really irritates me about all the higher cost "protein" versions of regular supermarket products? They're both pushing other, diverse, products off the shelves and effectively limiting choice, but also the increase in protein over the standard version is usually roughly fuck all too

I'm very sensible and definitely didn't fuck up my calendar and get tattooed the Tuesday before the gym comp on Saturday because I thought it was the Tuesday after when I booked it. I'm sure it'll be fine though, first 3 days are the only real important ones to not do too much on, right?

It's also nice to not see something like this not inexplicably come down to a roughly 52 vs 48 split, *again*

mtsw@mtsw.bsky.social

man it's nice for one of these to not turn into a big beat-the-polls surprise for the fascist lunatic side for once

Looking at lessons from history: "The threat of the Communists put the SPD in a difficult position. The party had a choice between becoming more radical (which could weaken the Communists but lose its base among the middle class) or stay moderate, which would damage its base among the working class"

But why didn't the KPD unite with the SPD against the rise of fascism? "Under Defense Minister of Germany Gustav Noske, the party aided in putting down the Communist and left wing Spartacist uprising throughout Germany in early 1919 with the use of the extreme right wing Freikorps"

"They were ostensibly mustered to fight on behalf of the Weimar government against the KPD during the Spartacist uprising. However, many Freikorps also largely despised the Republic and were involved in assassinations of its supporters, later aiding the Nazis in their rise to power" Oh.
