Well the country is in an actual, full-blown existential crisis, so I don't think this is unreasonable.
Also, what we really want to see is effort and fight. Urgency, ruthlessness, anger, ambition, and effort. Not platitudes and throwing up your hands when obstacles present themselves.
This site will expect the next Dem president to deliver what FDR delivered in four terms but in the first 100 days and if they don’t they’ll call them a fascist.
NBC News or something is on at this bar at MCO and it would appear that Professor Gilderoy Lockhart is educating people on "how to keep conversations about politics civil"
Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day.
Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.
We have never seen anything like it before. Proven Meta and U.S. interference in the first round; now this criminal voter suppression in the second round. The far-right loves calling corruption when they themselves are against democracy when it benefits their side. This is torturous to watch.
There is blatant voter suppression happening right now in Brazil: flights cancelled and buses suspended to Northeastern capitals where Lula holds the majority, polling stations changed to thousands of kms away last-minute, voters in London told they need to go to Edinburgh… This is criminal.
Three touchdowns in 70 seconds and a horrendous dad joke*? That's @sickoscommittee.org territory.
*referring to a PVAMU running back breaking away for a touchdown: "he needs counseling for loneliness the way he got ahead of the defense"
To be absolutely clear on this: if you are willing to abandon trans people for political expedience, I cannot trust you to hold the line on literally anything else. You cave on this, you will cave on something else. It's that simple.
Listen here, trans people, you NEED to VOTE for this shitbag who doesn't want you to exist because the REPUBLICAN will be WORSE because he will *checks notes* do the same thing but GOPier!
Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet.
Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well.
Horrific.
Seriously, fuck this fucking piece of shit. I couldn't give less of a shit if he wins or loses after this. Yeah, I get that Dem senate might accomplish other things, but I'm not leaving my trans folks behind and this gives me zero confidence in him on anything else

I feel insane seeing stuff like this about Watson out in the wild. Setting aside *waves hands around* literally everything…he’s been below average at best!
Still really wish journalists would stop using "Department of War". It's the Department of Defense. Can't be changed without an Act of Congress. Super low on the hierarchy of issues, obviously, but still.
Man, Hegseth's Department of War is even more buffoonish than everything else. Kinda amazed how the US military didn't just have some basic war plans they could activate. Their lack of preparedness is astonishing.

just clicked for me that the reason clyburn went on tv in winter '24 and said biden should pardon trump was bc he knew that he was under investigation for corruption (which he did do, per propublica). so how much of his decision to avoid fighting trump these last two years has been bc of that?
Again, the trump admin is the most corrupt we’ve ever known, but the Dem party has a pretty sizable corruption problem that quite literally put our democracy in danger.

As we approach the midterms, remember that the Alt National Park Service is a merch sales operation claiming without evidence to be a group of federal employees, and is not a genuine source of news about elections of any kind.
Please get your election info from a local, reputable source.
Bluesky I know you do not care about golf. But I am telling you that in this specific case, you SHOULD care about golf. I explain in @slate.com what the Trump administration is doing to East Potomac Golf Course in D.C. slate.com/culture/2026...
Los Angeles Clippers
best player: Pablo Torre.I’ve never seen anyone own a franchise that hard.
fun player: man this is bleak. Darius Garland is fun to watch I guess.
butt: if you look up “butt” in the dictionary it just shows you a clippers jersey
“They would just ignore him.”
Emiliano Andrade-Covarrubias, a lawful permanent resident, is the seventh person to die in ICE detention in Texas this year.
While ICE reports his cause of death to be unknown, his family argues that his medical concerns were ignored.
His family deserves answers.
We’re back with our second story about how Trump’s purge of the FBI killed a sweeping bribery probe in D.C.
This time, we take you to South Carolina, where two powerful politicians escaped scrutiny:
Sen. Lindsey Graham and Rep. James Clyburn.

Vivek Ramaswamy registered as an attorney in New York and as a voter in Ohio at different addresses, which would mean he either violated New York State Bar registration laws or Ohio voter registration laws.
Leaked audio: Michigan Republican Mike Rogers asking for officers at polling stations to intimidate voters
"We called the RNC early and said hey... Let's put police officers, retired or off-duty police officers as our poll watchers in Detroit because go ahead, try to intimidate them. Please."
As the Trump administration pushes the bounds of executive power, the DOJ unit known as the Office of Legal Counsel has affirmed some of its most controversial actions — even as experts question their legitimacy and some are later struck down by the courts.
And if you are from outside the USA telling us "this is what you should be doing, the rest of the world is tired of you, blah blah blah" kindly shut the fuck up. It wouldn't be your lives on the line, you coddled losers. Grow up.
Sometimes it is necessary, because the present is so bad and so intractable that you just have to risk whatever comes next. But that should be the last, last resort.
And if you think we should be doing the same thing here, fine. I respect it. But you go flip the first barricade, then.
"Success" in the context of violent revolution is not the same as in non-violent (or minimally violent) revolution. "Winning" is near-inevitably followed by years, if not decades, of horror, hardship, and instability. It is not a good place to be.
The American Revolution was an aberration, and quite famously it didn't start and end in 1776. It was a brutal war that took 8 years! That it ended with something approaching a peaceful and coherent government is the exception, not the rule
