I had a great time moderating this panel on creating magic systems from Scotland's history, culture and landscape with @kateem.bsky.social, @neilwilliamson.bsky.social, @joannacorrance.bsky.social and @rtorrubia.com. Even if Neil did disagree from the start with the whole idea of "magic systems"! 😅

I had a grand time at #fantasycon this year, and I'd love to make a big old post about it, but I am beyond burnt out as we reel into the shadows of Autumn. All my love to all the pals I caught, glimpsed, waved at and drive-by hugged, and to the many, many cool new folk I got to chat with.

In which Nev Gets It Right(ish) 🌚

Can't wait for this weekend's #PictCon! I'll be interviewing GoH Neil Williamson, plus chatting about AI and Masculinities. Here's a fancy infographic. @pictcon.bsky.social @neilwilliamson.bsky.social @tobiasbuckell.bsky.social @hermitabroad.bsky.social @janecarnall.bsky.social @rtorrubia.com

Well, this was a LOT of fun.

It was at this point that things went just a tad sideways 🗡🌚

Come watch me die on stage for what is probably not the last time 🗡

This is the most fun I've had in long time. Like, subscribe and come meet our haunted crew. 🗡

Step into the shadows of Doskvol with us tomorrow as we start a new Blades in the Dark adventure! Will our crew of scoundrels rise up from the murk of Doskvol or sink into the inky depths of the Void Sea? Follow/subscribe on YouTube or podcast app so you don't miss it: linktr.ee/narrativedam...

I have lived too long, the squid must claim me.

& learn to walk the dark again (haptics of gradient & turn firming up almost 9 months here), spare headlamp for moon (upper right rubbing away already) & it candles on the lochan (mallards burbling somewhere, kwik & quibble of tawny owl), dandelion clock running slow in final phase

Very excited for this one, as I keep saying. Brilliant authors, great chat - guaranteed ⛵️🌊💀

Can’t wait to visit Leeds for this excellent panel at Waterstones with @ianthegreen.bsky.social @rainewilson.bsky.social and @rtorrubia.com www.waterstones.com/events/panel...

The four of us together are going to be an absolute riot, grab your tickets for this asap and I'll emboss a little sailing ship on your book ⛵️

The water filled with a thousand small chalices.

Hanging out with some of my faves for this one, really looking forward to it. AND, you can be one of the first folk to get a special embossed copy of The Shipwright and the Shroudweaver.

ONE WEEK until I'm off to Berwick and The Berwick Bookloft for this very exciting event at the extremely cool Straw Yard. I'm up against my old enemy the World Cup, so book early to avoid disappointment ⛵️🌊💀 www.thebookloft.co.uk/event-detail...

Also, I did this with @sunyidean.com, @marcorinaldi.bsky.social & co. and it was a HOOT 🗡🎲

It's a novel everybody should be reading!

I am utterly in love with this book. It is a stunning work of fantasy!

Utterly blown away to receive such a glowing review from the @britfantasysoc.bsky.social for The Shipwright and the Shroudweaver. britishfantasysociety.org/review/the-s...

A rich and immersive debut Scottish fantasy, The Shipwright and the Shroudweaver by Rafael Torrubia, is a fine addition to the genre from @gollancz.bsky.social #BFSReview britishfantasysociety.org/review/the-s...

A really lovely rec from a really cool author, what a joy 🌊💀⛵

Really looking forward to this one - if you're south of the border and we haven't hung out yet, come say hi and let's chat all things Scottish and strange.
