Do you think Spam (the food company) is like, hell ya all this free media for AI spam out there and people are going to subconsciously buy our products more? Or do you think their marketing department is some dude drinking Jack every morning and clicking resend on "there is no hope"

Nothing explains local politics more than the idea that local communities will band together to block a land owner from putting solar on their property instead of crops. People thinking that their "views" overrule someone else's property rights is amazing....

Dark as in you can't see a damn thing because the special effects budget got blown though and they made everything darker so you can't tell how cheap it looks.

Now is the moment for us to reach down and pick up the power we have as citizens and rebuke these abuses so decisively that no president will try anything like this again for centuries.

I want the math to work on adding a battery system to my home solar but it just doesn't... The house already has a backup generator so the battery only offers pure power cost arbitrage and at current prices it won't payback for more than 20 years.

Buying an EV means I don't have to get jerked around every few years when Rs start another war. Of course fuel prices make everything more expensive for everyone but at least I can ignore the direct effects.

the Fuel Clock shows Americans have paid $74.4 billion more on gasoline & $47.5 billion more on diesel since March 1 compared to a year ago. Total cost will hit $122 billion today. also updated the state map where you can find out how much more you're paying. link in my profile.

DEEP cuts to methane -- far beyond what's being discussed widely so far -- and other superpollutants can act as the "emergency brake" we need to help correct the overshoot we are going to see in the coming decades. It is fast-acting, large, effective, and safe. drawdown.org/insights/hit...

As others have said the Google Maps thing isn't a policy decision by Google. They use the map labels and boundaries of the official organizations in each country. For the US that is the GNIS. There are places in the world where the literal borders change depending on what country you look from.

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

I never understood the economics of freemium games with expensive packages. Who is spending $10 on a digital robot for a game on their phone?? Its me... I'm spending it because my 8 yo wants it and did extra chores this week. I have an animal in my house that converts weeds into digital tokens. Odd

Had a real technology scare last night. Somehow between moving computers I managed to delete both my original and backup copies of my entire photo library sometime in the last 4 months. 😱 I figure the original source was deleted and that deletion "synced" to my automatic backup system.

Fortunately I was able to piece everything back together and recover the deleted files on my NAS. The whole experience made me rethink my approach. All of which is to say, keep air gapped copies folks.. Sometimes simple is the best solution.

NEW: General Dynamics opened a Texas factory to churn out artillery shells for Ukraine, but the machines kept breaking. Robot arms smashed into things. Hunks of metal crashed to the floor. There was even a real-life dumpster fire.

It's insane how every business assumes it's okay to record your name address and phone number just because they ask. Even if you politely decline they insist. Like sorry I don't need you to create a profile for me just so I can have the privilege of paying for a haircut.
