On top of the abhorrent treatment of artists, the platform has become practically unusable. I tried to gather a list of the podcasts I follow and its not possible. It just shows an algorithmic stream you must sift through and it's mostly video recommendations.

In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties. The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized. Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

#phantomsfriday Haunted by Regrets by Richard Tennant Cooper (1855-1957) In the mode of Felician Rops, Cooper had a phantasmagorical fascination with macabre themes, including death, disease & sin.

There's a good episode of American Auto that satirizes this. A nationally-known serial killer is on the loose & driving one of the company's vehicles. They concoct a plan for tracking all cars. A banner will display on the back if the cops are ever looking for it. It's funny but kinda our reality.

I talk to my dog in a Batman voice sometimes (in the privacy of my own home) and I just accidentally did it out of habit in front of strangers 😭

In the heyday of Gak when I was a wee 90s kid we had a pet pig and no we did not live on a farm, we lived in a regular house in a city neighborhood but anyway the pig ate my Gak and we had to take it the vet. This is what I think of when I see Gak. Also the smell which I liked (the Gak, not the pig)

One of the cringiest things I ever did was when I was highly intoxicated at Jazz Fest and I ran into Jude Law (who I did not know in any way), like literally ran into him before a Raconteurs show and I slapped him on the back and said GREAT ACTOR. Every time I see his face I think about this.

Good morning!

My patience for astrology talk has worn thin. Not sure if this is a normal progression or just a sign of my ongoing descent into a crotchety old person with heavy judgments or what but I just can't. I can't. I will write a person off if they insert it into conversations more than a few times.

I have a strong desire to buy luxurious monochromatic loungewear sets for errands and morning dog walking. I dont know who I am anymore

“About Venezuela? How should I respond to that? Well, what can I say? If… If it is possible to act with dictators like this, it means the United States knows what to do next. Thank you.” - Zelenskyy The man is certainly fast on his feet.

Everyone talks about privilege. White privilege, pretty privilege. But what about allergy-free privilege? These people need to recognize their life advantage and grovel to us sufferers who spend our lives squirting shit up our noses and battling swollen membranes

I don't think it's possible to create any sort of classifieds without these guys. They are a staple. They are ingrained. They are the foundation. Also, if you want to pay to smell someone you should be clear about what the smell provider can expect you to be doing/wearing during the smelling...

Logged back on FB after maybe 4 months away and my tolerance for the clickbait reels is so low I can't even watch them at all. Esp the ones that are like SEVEN AUDIO STIMS THAT PROVE YOU HAVE HIGH FUNCTIONING AUTISM or REASONS YOUR GLUTE IMBALANCE IS DESTROYING YOU. The fearmongering is ridiculous

Works by English merchant, politician, and artist John Bingley Garland, 1850s-60s, whose handmade "Blood Book" collected his cut paper collages marked with distinctive drips of red India ink, a motif representing the blood of Christ.

When I was younger I tried wearing foundation for a while. The more often I wore it, the uglier I felt any time I took it off and didn't wear any. I relied on it more and more. My baseline changed. It skewed my self-perception (and also made my body dysmorphia worse), so I stopped wearing it at all.

And it can allll be rooted back to Intagram and Meta. The idea that you have to capture and dissect everything you create into short video snippets. The thing you're creating becomes a marketing exercise in and of itself. Podcasts became a marketing tool to generate content to appease the algorithms

Happy Catmas to all who celebrate! (by cat artist supreme, Louis Wain)

I've nearly completely avoided the political side of x since getting on there. Only had one disaster where a bunch of people called me the R word, but the one thing I cannot escape is the people posting @grok questions. It's terrible. They do it as replies too. "Lord Grok, summarize THIS" awful
