If you defend Zionism you’re a defender of colonization, empires and worst of all you’re a defender of genocide. If you don’t like this you go ahead and unfollow or block me.

@davechen.bsky.social , I am a bit upset with you because I had saved The Coffee Table to watch on your recommendation and I kept myself unaware of what it is about. My wife and I watched it last night and boy was that a 89 minutes which is not super long and I wish it had been shorter.

Chicago area weather is crazy as always. We had a warm 73° spring day followed by a plunge into the 30s. Anyway, here are some pictures from a walk I took while it was nice.

It’s truly incredible that with the Americans and Israelis making up claims of potential Iranian WMDs, there is virtually no mention anywhere in most of the mainstream coverage so far that the *only* Middle Eastern state with undeclared nuclear weapon is Israel.

People who are still wondering how it has come to this with Trump and ICE have still not woken up to the fact that we live in a country with a history of various types of racism. The government doesn’t care about us, they just want to use us.

No one is cancelled by accident. This isn't the 1950s- we're not cancelling people for being gay, using drugs, or for martial infidelity. If you have been cancelled in the 21st century, it is for hate speech and sex crimes. Full stop. Why would ANYONE think "Yeah, but what if we brought them back?"

Zionist logic goes like this Normal person: Israel should stop killing Palestinians. Zionist: everyone hates Jewish people! Antisemitism is spreading!!! This woe is me shit is ridiculous when all that’s being asked is to stop killing. Not to mention that Israel is on top of Palestinian bodies.

On the one hand I remember looking up Olivia Nuzzi because she was cited as a great young journalist and the article I read described her as a lithesome blond which was weird, off-putting sexism. On the other hand, she had an affair with a brain worm infested, bear carcass desecrating married man.

Being upset with and hysterical about Hamas is the same as feeling that way about gangs that arise in a poor neighborhood. It’s a lack of nuance and understanding of what drives people toward such extremes. It’s a lack of seeing how these groups arise in resistance to mass wealth and power.

I like Jimmy Kimmel. I really do. I have no issues with him. I'm talking about something very different. Kimmel was only suspended. But he's back now. Karen Attiah and all the other Black journalists are still fired. Y'all do know how to fight, when you want to. But you don't really want to. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Strongly dislike Charlie Kirk but - The shooter flees the scene after Kirk goes down. They are a suspiciously good shot. And a private plane mysteriously leaves a local airport and disappears from radar only to reappear on the way back. Not suspicious at all. 🙄🙄 www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...

dailymail.co.ukFBI grilled over airport close to Charlie Kirk hit as jet 'vanishes'Kirk, 31, was gunned down on Wednesday while speaking at a university event in Orem, Utah. Authorities failed to close off the airspace surrounding Provo Airport.

This is false, revisionist history. Hamilton literally owned slaves.

Mike@pericles261.bsky.social

Most is extreme, Franklin, Adams, Hamilton were all strongly against slavery. Hamilton formed one of the first abolitionist movements. Most Northerners were against slavery.

You can highly disapprove of the way Iran treats their people and the way their government is structured and also staunchly be pro Iran during this time when they have been attacked unprovoked by Israel. You can state that Iran has a right to defend itself because it does.

This is not just revisionist history, it's ignorant of reality. Activists didn't leave Twitter because they "thought they would be more effective" somewhere else, they left because Elon made it clear that he would *deliberately undermine their influence." Why make shit up?

Megan McArdle@mcmegan.bsky.social

I’m not upset. I’m bemused that activists thought they would be more effective by giving up a platform where they had considerable influence and self segregating on a site almost no one else reads.

“The screening was organized by Even-Esh and the Chicago Jewish Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to mobilizing against antisemitism and anti-Zionism.” Those two things should never be conflated. Anti-semitism is a serious issue. Anti-Zionism is a necessary stance against a hostile and violent entity

This isn't a racist dogwhistle. This is a stack of concert-quality speakers blaring racism into an arena.

Q: There are many people who fit the criteria of fleeing persecution. Afghans for example. But they're being denied refugee status. So why such an exception for the Afrikaners? TRUMP ADMIN OFFICIAL: One of the criteria is making sure they can be assimilated easily into our country

1) USPS did not lose $3.3b. It provided a service that cost $3.3b. *The Pentagon* loses you money, however, every time it accidentally yeets a fighter jet off the deck of a carrier

Hansi Lo Wang (he/him)@hansilowang.bsky.social

NEW: The U.S. Postal Service posted a net loss of $3.3 billion in this fiscal year’s second quarter mainly due to “significant challenges out of our control,” including workers’ compensation costs, Luke Grossmann, USPS chief financial officer, said at the open session of the governing board meeting

Aaaand, this is how you earn a block. The amount of people in the United States of hell with entitled thinking who harbor weird and racist ideas without even seeing it are countless. Good riddance.

This is why the world thinks Americans are silly people with fake problems. Imagine what someone in Gaza’s life is like. An Iraqi whose life and home were in constant threat by the US military. A person in Congo whose children are enslaved in a cobalt mine. Millennial trauma is minimal.

Johnathan Perkins@johnathanperk.bsky.social

This is so accurate. We millennials grew up amidst CONSTANT Columbine-level trauma. Nothing scares us anymore. 😎😑

Seriously!! What exactly is this word police on the left? Who are they? And if they exist, what power do they have? Because if memory serves, our entire government became Republican which is the far right maga party.

Stop using “purity test” to excuse indefensible behavior from politicians Opposing genocide is not a purity test Opposing dehumanization of minority groups is not a purity test Opposing a lack of any meaningful plan from Dems to slow or stop Trump is not a purity test It’s called accountability.

Both 100% immoral, evil, disgusting and show a complete lack of empathy for fellow human beings. It is exactly the same and anyone who says it isn’t is a bad person. Thanks @qasimrashid.com

Read @crobertcargill.bsky.social ‘s response and what he’s responding to. And make an effort to watch stuff by your favorite artists whether it is on streaming, theater or buying physical media. It all counts.

C. Robert Cargill@crobertcargill.bsky.social

1) It means A LOT of people watched the movie we worked so hard on. 2) It means other studios and streamers are interested in us making our next movie with them. 3) It increases the chance of our film staying part of the conversation. 4) It can mean bigger paydays on future projects. That's how.

I think virtue signaling is a term used by people who cannot believe thag other people have values, morals and compassion for others. They cannot fathom that someone would be vocal about things without wanting something in return because things they do for others are performative & transactional.

Today’s work lunch & learn, food is from Naf Naf-an Israeli chain that makes “middle eastern” food. I didn’t pay for it but I still have reservations about eating their food. After all they are culturally appropriating regional cuisine while the country they are from murders people of the region.

Trump’s anti-trans Executive Order is bad BUT it technically defines everyone as female. It states: “'Female' means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell." Since all fetuses "at conception" are female, Trump just defined EVERYONE as female.

Fuck the US government. Fuck both horrible parties. They banned TikTok because they’re afraid of not being able to control the narrative. It is beyond disgusting. They ruined people’s livelihoods, communities, friendships. Fuck them all.

Our government always pushes the idea that we have so much freedom. They make a big deal of how media, press, books, etc are banned in other countries because they restrict freedom. Then the majority of them vote to ban TikTok. Our government is full of fascistic hypocrites.

This is my take on the term virtue signaling. Any time I hear someone use it, I do not trust them.
