I tend to agree with @akivamcohen.bsky.social on this one — it’s far past time for radical reformation of the Court. But I repost it also because it’s a lovely example of the smart, informed, dare-I-say polite discourse/disagreement that is so very possible On Here. And I love #lawsky for it.

These are good questions. So I'm going to spend a little time giving my answers to them. Will build it as a full thread that posts all at once, rather than post by post.

Republican Rep. Andy Harris incorrectly told a reporter they were breaking the law as the reporter and others recorded an exchange with him last night. Harris had just wrapped up a debate with Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz.

There are so many ways Jeff Bezos has ruined the once-great @washingtonpost.com, but my god it is the Arlington MEMORIAL Bridge. You’d think the DC paper of record could get the names of major bridges right. Or did Trump change the name and I missed it?

Anti trans hatred is the same as any other anti-gay, religious, or racial hatred we have ever known. This includes the efforts to dress it up, hide it, and make it about protecting women or children. That's exactly what bigots did to Black and gay people.

Broadview 6 update: We are about to see the AUSA attempt to put the blame on the current US Attorney — and vice versa. This fight will result in learning about more wrongdoing. It’s a path to mutual destruction. I’d like a copy of the nonpublic Grand Jury Manual. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/25/u...

It’s possible Trump’s approval ratings go UP if there’s no coverage of him. Maybe the press ban is a masterful plan by WH insiders who see what is happening in polls around the country but can’t get their boss to stop doing stupid things on camera.

Drug trafficking is not a death penalty offense. No one should get the death penalty without due process. (This is not war. No one’s life was in immediate danger here.)

Maybe greed will act as a limiter plate here if we can’t get real campaign finance reform: (1) Billionaires put a lot of money into candidates, (2) those candidates lose, and (3) billionaires decide not to “waste” money on political donations in the future.

House GOP leaders cancel votes on Thursday - sending lawmakers home later today until after the elections. That means the House can avoid a vote on the Hegseth impeachment plan from Rep. Thomas Massie R-KY.

Finally someone willing to cover local DC news, politics, and sports. Excited about this new news source.

Admin law is one of those sleeper law school courses (esp if you practice in DC). It comes up ALL the time in real life and across many practice areas. What I learned in 1998 is outdated but then again so is what I learned in con law, crim pro … everything except property? TAKE THIS CLASS PEOPLE!

I have spent the last 18 months giving BlueSky a crash course in Administrative Law, and I have 20 students signed up for my class. People really don’t get where the action is right now.

DCA is the best airport for many reasons — and this is one of them. I can get from my office to the airport in 30 minutes for a few bucks. And with a view of the Potomac (via yellow line not the blue line)!

Peter Flax@pflax1.bsky.social

How many US airports can you think of that actually have a first-class rail connection to center city? To me, the ideal is that you can walk from the terminal and take a train that has a logically direct route to the city. Denver and SLC come to mind. SFO, ORD and Dulles are not horrible. What else?

This is low on the list of things to be mad about … but it’s enraging to hear them talk about DC like it was a cesspool 18 months ago. It is a lovely city to live in, and I’m so happy we raised our kids here. And FWIW I’ve been walking around DC “after sunset” since I moved here in 1991.

What sadly passes for “normal” in DC these days. Armed soldiers standing around doing nothing but wasting your tax dollars. This is in Metro Center — safe, quiet on a Friday evening at 7 pm. This shouldn’t be normal. At all.

Me when I won’t stand up for God Bless America in the middle of a baseball game. It’s not the national anthem! Why are you standing up and taking off your hat? I am confused.

A Norway fan has gone viral for not taking part in their Row celebration after matches and won't do it if they win the World Cup "It’s factually wrong; they didn’t row, they sailed over the Atlantic”

If I were representing Dave Hearn, I would ask the court for leave to inspect (or have an expert inspect) the “crime scene” - the bottom of the Reflecting Pool. If the judge granted that motion, I would guess the govt would dismiss the charges asap.
