This account exists to spare my friends from my D&D obsession. Lots of Warhammer too. #OSR #TTRPG #40K. Part of the #torontOSR! I run the OSR and Inq28 BlueSky feeds! My blog: save.vs.totalpartykill.ca, just like my username! He/Him.

The Trench Crusade campaign continues. This time I won, mostly by having more models than my opponent. Remember in skirmish games: boys before toys. (Wonder what the less gendered version of that rhyme should be.)

Of all the things I want preserved from the OSR, I think this is #1. I think it’s sorta the OSR’s Blackmoor.

I thought I had lost these. My maps of @necropraxis.bsky.social’s Pahvelorn. Do the youth even know this was the greatest campaign ever? Hugely influential to me, and many others. Grognardia walked so Brendan could run and all that.

This is a fun horror game (still an ashcan) that is a good counterexample of pbta being about moves or the "resolving actions" part of the game The cool design here is the very genre-forward GM-facing tools, then the playbooks (asymmetrical currencies), and then a distant third, actions

In The Pines is funny, scary, and a little bit fucked up www.rascal.news/in-the-pines...

This comic is so fucking good, it's kind of unreal you can just buy it on the internet.

I have returned! And with me I bring potentially the greatest feat of ecommerce that man, the most prodigious animal in the sphere of merchandising, has ever accomplished, my own website! Yes now YOU can purchase a copy of BASILEUS 1 and I will send it to you! Go to comicstrongbox.square.site

I posted a little bit about the comic when my copy arrived a few months ago, in case you need to see more pictures of it or something, instead of just listening to me and buying it already. What else were you going to spend your money on?

Surprise mail call: Basilieus by Andrew Whyte. Just some absolute dirt bag D&D vibes, I love it. The art is incredible.

Stonetop does a great job explaining all the concepts of play, including fictional positioning. I often feel many PbtA games do a better job at dungeon master advice than your typical OSR game. This is a clear set of examples on how you might adjudicate a situation.

There are so many moves in Stonetop. It seems a bit overwhelming, but maybe in other games all this stuff is implicit rather than explicit. Moves help show you the shape of a game. I learned in Stonetop you might muster a militia for example.

Just played a solo game of Rogue Trader! A buncha cops try to sneak into a barbarian village to piss in the water supply as revenge for a fallen ally. Unfortunately, after round 2, another barbarian tribe came back from a raid on a nearby settlement, and chaos ensued! The cops retreat, for now...

The Weekly Scroll@theweeklyscroll.com

The ashcan edition of my new game is out. HONBASHO is a 1v1 skirmish game that simulates modern sumo wrestling. I made it to teach sumo with a game, more than make a sumo game. My hope is that after someone plays this game, they will have a basic understanding of sumo and can watch and enjoy it.

MÖRK BORG's graphic design is next level. It's genuinely incredible. So many of the 3rd party modules try to ape all the chaos, but miss the mark. I am always quietly judging people who complain about the book. Always. I'm doing it right now.

Johan Nohr@nohr.se

Four reasons why I think MÖRK BORG's index is good. 1. It's divided into three sections so that you can quickly filter to the third you're looking for and not have to sift through as many irrelevant entries. If you're looking for a thing in the Rules, you just ignore The World and Creatures.

OK, I wasn't on that on the case. I was trying to get my OCI spot back, but it just wasn't going to happen, so I paid actual-ass money to host this thing on a real VPS. I do it for the people. Stay tuned!

I’m on the case! Well, slowly. The free VPS I was using to host those apps killed itself. Need to sort out spinning it all back up. Hopefully back soon.

I’ve been waiting impatiently for this boxed set to arrive. A small starter set for Trench Crusade. There are two small warbands, and a narrative campaign book to go with them. Might be something to play when this current campaign is over.

This opening section expands on the short timeline that opens the book, the one with the cool fake woodcut. (Which, knowing these guys, probably is a real woodcut.)

Waiting patiently for the Carcass Front boxed set to arrive. Love this faux medieval illustration.

The book opens with a brief overview of the history and places in the Carcass Front region. The lore for the setting continues to be extra in the best way. In the vignette we learn the pope’s communicant bodyguard eats him to avoid his capture by the heretics, and now he’s like a super communicant.

already got you covered:

Better. Those last three columns are useful. You still need three interesting people and at least one reason to see each of them. It’s all about the characters.
