Budding music journalists out there--we have had a lot of questions about this competition, and anyone who has not published three *paid* pieces of music writing is eligible. You can also be any age. Please click through for the full T&Cs; we want to hear from you.

a horse walks into a bar and says to the barman, "on a right angled triangle with sides x, y and z, if x and z are perpendicular which side is opposite the right angle?", and the barman says "y, the long face"

this is one of the best, sharpest dystopian books predicting some present day horrors, and it's especially sick/brilliant for being written from the perspective of painfully vapid teens. love it so much and so glad to see it recommended here

That's not Bluesky advertising what the site is like. That's Bluesky trying to subliminally remind you that you could just be outside instead of posting.

Got briefly logged out of this app yesterday and saw this login screen which is such an inaccurate representation of the Bluesky experience that I think it could be legally actionable

Today is a good day to remember that Carl Sagan was as outspoken about the dangers of war and nuclear weapons as he was an advocate of space exploration.

Zola! last year this dude's novels kept me sane; rec. his R-M novel cycle for rhymes with/relief from the insanity of the present moment: super detailed/historically damning, humane, treats women as real people and there are racy/trashy pulp plots to boot, something for everyone ❤️

Remembering Emile Zola on his birthday 🎂 A self-portrait from around 1900. Zola was a remarkable photographer, though I hear he also wrote a bit on the side :) "He was a moment in the conscience of Man." Anatole France

got this ad on the guardian website for some bs AI language learning app. (there was a larger image explaining it was AI, but the proportions were wrong to upload here) fluent in italian? this isn't even fluent in english. dis-apper indeed.

In Mario Kart Wii, crashing the game and activating the crash handler will eventually start playing back the contents of the Wii's RAM as sound. Since the data was never intended to be interpreted like this, it ends up sounding like experimental harsh noise music.
