Texas EV looks like a good start But I must be clear: It is less than one day. A start only. We've got a MONTH in Virginia. We've got trends and patterns and 11 month-old data to compare to! My prognostications are going to hew to what is likely 20-25% of all votes that will be cast in Virginia.

The election of 2024 was like sitting behind a glass wall, watching a loved one drink from a poisoned cup. The feeling of helplessness is bitter beyond words. But we feel it now; the convulsing in our body politic. The throat of democracy begins to retch.

We go to the polls like we go to the ER, seeing America claw for life on a gurney. We vote to administer an antidote. "Are we too late" is a question we are forced to consider but we cannot render it on our lips. I do not know if we will survive in the long-run; but I know that we want to.

Vote. Vote for the people who cannot. Vote for the children who lost a parent to ICE. Vote for the innocent who wither in a detention cell. Vote to honor the people who got us here. Vote to rip a tyrant's golden boot from our necks. Vote to save our body politic from itself.

Every poison is a race against the clock and we do not know how much time we have. So many brave people stepped up to slow the process. Renee Good. Alex Pretti. The many neighborhood watchdogs we will never know. Blood and tears spilled into America's veins to give us a chance.

Bruh if Trump has to bribe the people of *kentucky* what are the internals looking like there

Trump: "If the Republicans win, the Department of War will be investing $100 million in the pharmaceutical company Anthea to revitalize a gigantic drug manufacturing facility in Winchester, Kentucky"

When I was at the state fair they had an indoor track where a professional driver drove you around in a land rover for a few minutes. Sadly I feel like replicating this attraction at the Tesla HQ with the one functioning roadster would work on a lot of people.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

Also, there's no possible way the Roadster will ever be street legal, so that "wild looping track" will probably be the only place a purchaser will ever be able to use the car.

This is basically where I'm at rn for Senate. I'm admittedly bullish on south carolina lol (historically, "politician's family member tries to claim a seat post-death" doesn't go well).

One would be good and the other would be bad because one cause is good and the other is bad. We are not in the realm of procedural justice concerns anymore, liberalism is not obligated to be neutral on the question of its own existence.

Mike Masnick@masnick.com

People demanding Zuck be hauled before Congress to explain why No Kings insta was suspended... how would you feel if MAGA GOP hauled MSNow execs to explain why they covered Trump the way they do? Both are editorial choices protected by the First Amendment. If this annoys you...

"What is the market for the roadster" genuinely whoever at Amazon MGM will put one in the next bond movie along with 50k elon fanboys

Glad this is being mentioned. Con ET is positively giddy over the thought that "marist is Dem-biased so Talarico swinging from +6 to +2 means the race is tightening" and they are going to be reckt when this is not the case.

Finished my model update write-up for this week. It's basically a follow-up on the discussions I've seen and been having with @hydevoltyge.bsky.social, @mariafromga.bsky.social, @clearlyashley.bsky.social and others about how red pollsters' modeled electorates are. drive.google.com/file/d/1NK0R...

I'm only half joking when I say that after seeing You Can See Everything, I think Elizabeth Holmes' husband will sell her AI model to the Trump admin as the new press secretary

Replying to @courtneymilan.com

This doesn't make sense. How does the car know that it's safe to go over. What if there's a cliff on the other side. What if the blockage is too long. What if two Roadsters are side by side and both do this and then kickflip into each other.

Tom@moll.dev

another clip of it "flying" over a bunch of other Tesla vehicles

My most good-faith interpretation of the roadster design is that it might be used in stunts for movies and such? Or Elon thinks he can start the tesla equivalent of monster truck rallies

Thinking about the implications of those Iowa EV numbers (first day EV | final result) 2022 (senate): D+11 | R+12 (23-point swing) 2024 (pres): D+7 | R+13 (20-point swing) 2026 (senate): D+27 20-23 pt swing wouldn't cut it, esp since Dems are keeping the same mail % as 2022.

Just saw You Can See Everything. I can confirm that you cannot in fact see everything and it's actually breaking my mind somewhat. Truly WTF cinema experience, will absolutely do it a second time.

Can't say oil companies didn't get ROI on their political spending. Jesus.

Trump: “If Ken Paxton loses, it will be because of WEAK and INEFFECTIVE Political Hacks like John Cornyn and Karl Rove, who have ineffectively opposed me for my entire political career.”

So uh. 2022 was a 23-pt swing from Day 1 EV to result; 2024 was a 20-pt swing. 27pts to start with?? Iowa Lean-D baby

G Elliott Morris@gelliottmorris.com

Iowa had its first day of early voting yesterday. Submitted ballots were D+27 by party registration. In 2022, first-day ABEV ballots were D+11. And in 2024, it was D+7. More on the EV blog: www.gelliottmorris.com/p/2026-early...

Whenever we get close to election day I go back to rewatch this video. Campaigns aren’t just candidates. Thousands of people you will never know and history books won’t contain their names gave hundreds of hours or even years of their lives to get here.

Honestly just happy to see a politician with a normal level of emotional maturity after the last decade of pissbaby shit from Trump and MAGA

This was such a great answer from Abdul El-Sayed about his previous criticisms of President Obama.

Exactly this. That Texas has swung back to being competitive at all after 2024 is something of a miracle. I would certainly rather be Talarico rn but his win is not a given and any win may be small. Gotta brace for all possibilities.

Talarico may not win Texas by 10pts? Wow! The Governors race isn’t a slam dunk? No shit. Again people do need to dial back their expectations within reason. A D+10 night with a Talarico +3 winning margin is still nearly unthinkable
