I'm looking for a textbook for the Board Game Design class I'll be teaching this spring. The class will be a combo of both game design majors and students who presumably have no experience in game dev. The contenders are Building Blocks of Game Design & Game Design Workshop. Am I missing an option?

Definitely check out this upcoming game, it's been in the works for a while but years ago I got to playtest it a bit and it's fantastic if you're into '___ & write' games. Go take a look!

Over four years in the making. That's a bit of a dramatic intro; I wasn't working on it every day for four years. I was figuring out *games* for four years. But it's finally here. 💎 Rune Rite is coming to crowdfunding on October 13th. Follow this prelaunch page for a notification then. #boardgames

There's a misconception that when creatives are working on a project, we swing back and forth between "this is the greatest thing ever made" and "this is garbage, why am I bothering?" Not true. We're not swinging back and forth. We're thinking both things. Simultaneously. At all times.

Latest look at my game HARD DRIVE! 😁 "I’ve played a total of 5 Mint Tin Games now, and Hard Drive sits near the top for me...there’s real satisfaction in pulling off big combos between MOD cards, code drifting, and Overclock." It's gratifying to see people enjoying the game so much!

After five Mint Tin Games, Hard Drive from @galens-games.bsky.social stands out as one of the strongest. Fast gameplay, fun solo mode, engaging theme, and great combo potential. Full overview & thoughts here: bit.ly/4srJN6P

Good progress today. Testing updated rules to Common Ground (my thinky 12-card co-op), and it's very promising. I had lack of arc & abrupt, unsatisfying ending issues, and the changes look to have successfully addressed both, while ratcheting up the tension! 😁

No matter who we are or where we come from, on this special day board gamers around the country have one thing in common: we all brought way too many games home for Thanksgiving.

It's a 'relief' to see this coming out soon! I got to playtest it a few times over the years and it's a really great game with such a specific theme. It's either my 'number 1' or 'number 2' most anticipated game 😆.

#NightSoil is coming to #Kickstarter in one month! Check it out! This is a really serious game about sanitation in Tudor London!! www.kickstarter.com/projects/gra... #boardgames #jeuxdesociete

Great meeting this morning for work-in-progress "Dream Machine," a puzzle-y game where you try to influence the Dreamer and make sure they have a good dream. The game is in a great spot and we're starting to build up to a crowdfund campaign. More info to come!

Made Mario Day a big thing this year for no reason. Kids had fun; Mario Legos, Mariokart, and Mario-themed cupcakes. My Mario-themed cupcakes turned out exactly as planned and nothing at all went wrong in the execution of my vision. As I'm sure you can tell, this is a piranha plant beside a coin😅.

Opportune 1st Contact playtest this morning! I tried out a significant change to the Conversation Track. I think it did what it was supposed to; made things smoother, more direct effects, & more of an 'arc' to the game experience. Co-design with @CrimsynSeraph & @CoffeeLghtWght

Game night last night! Melissa got Mental Blocks off the shelf, and I had forgotten what an under-appreciated game this one is. We had a blast trying to assemble the correct builds.

We also did two rounds of Inside Job, a social deduction trick taking game (!). Even with players new to trick taking, they were able to quickly learn and enjoy this mashup. Super fun.

Finally, players requested Whirling Witchcraft. It just plays so quick and it’s so satisfying to convert those cubes, my friends always want to play this one when they come over.

Playtested the latest build of First Contact yesterday. This game has really come a long way and is playing well. Next step is working on developing more of an 'arc' to the gameplay, so the end of the game feels even more satisfying.

Protospiel Chicago was amazing! Thank you to all the players and designers; every game I got to the table is going to improve based on the feedback! I'm especially happy that First Contact, which was massively overhauled a week ago, performed so well. Plenty to update this week!

You are up to date.
