I love that Avengers Armageddon is trying to bring back post-9/11 shoot and cry storytelling, but over 20 years after any of that stuff still had purchase.

As a Muslim who has been accused of dual loyalty and asked to denounce everything from ISIS to the Iranian state, I breathed a sigh of relief that I think I’d been holding in for like two decades watching this.

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

Not shocked that the guy who covered up the police murdering a kid during his term as mayor is anti-accountability.

Former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel calls on Democratic lawmakers to set aside plans to impeach President Trump if they win a majority in the House, pushing them instead to pass an ethics reform package.

After the skinner box that was Dark Souls 2, I needed Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave. Getting some much needed downtime just poking around and exploring. That said don't do my beloved Fodlan like-- yeah okay fine.

He and Fetterman can't both be "Oafish moron trying to switch sides for a Republican presidential run". Gonna need a cage match to settle this.

Trump is throwing the press out of the White House, and Newsom and Bonta have allowed the further consolidation of the press at a time when we struggle to get accurate news and information. I'm sorry, but on this issue, which is CORE TO OUR DEMOCRACY, both parties fail us miserably.

I wanted to become a writer so I could "live out" many different kinds of lives. That was the whole point. But to do it for a living I had to learn a bunch of shit outside of character. Structure, plot, pacing, tone, voice. How to pitch. How to take notes. Etc. Guess that’s why they call it a job.

That's not even getting into the more severe anti-democratic elements like Trump allies/Zionists like the Ellisons and the Saudis having a death grip over all sorts of elements of democracy or media in general, but who knows. Maybe they'll bungle it and people will lose their jobs anyway. Awesome.

I deeply appreciate Intelligent Systems going out of their way to beat you over the head with the reality that the protagonist of Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave definitely is not white in canon either. Which really does fit with my preferred vision for protagonists I write/play as anyway. Bravo.

Loving Fortune's Weave. Though I'm incredibly annoyed I can't change the voice track to Japanese till after the opening. That and the lack of save slots seem like such obvious things to blow it on.

#ResidentEvil is a god damn delight. John Carpenter meets Looney Tunes madcap energy. Nonstop horror and overflowing with tension. It feels like you’re watching someone play the game. It’s a 10/10 for me.

Honestly, it's fitting with what an embarrassment the Cap and Avengers run this revamp is connected to has been. But having extremely regressive takes on Iraq and the War on Terror is a bit different from just trying to out-Doomsday Clock the way DC has treated Alan Moore's body of work.

Make mine Miracleman….but which one? Miracleman - yes Miracleman - is back with a new identity and origin in Avengers Armageddon #4, beginning a new chapter of comics's strangest publishing saga

At this point you're getting more exposure as an artist by quitting the Ed Sheeran tour than by sticking with it... and that's a really exciting thing for conscience (and conscious) culture.

We are well beyond the “Dog-Whistle” Racism of Nixon and Reagan’s Republican Party. I would offer “Clown Horn” Racism for how cartoonishly Trump’s GOP broadcasts White Supremacist racial theory in public and policy to cheers from actual Nazis, homegrown and abroad.

I get that Erick Erickson has never been a big MAGA guy, but to see this bit from him about what American conservatism is in 2026 was genuinely shocking to me.

The fact that he views public assets as belonging to the government is the problem. They don't belong to the government. They belong to the public. They belong to us. Not the Liberals, not Parliament, not him. Us. He's a caretaker, not an owner.

PM Carney on the privatization of federal assets: "What we're looking to do with all the tools we have is to catalyze building of this economy. If there are some assets that the federal government has that can help with that process, we'll look at it as part of a comprehensive approach."

Making the Captain America of Iraq (lol) Ultimate *insert beloved Alan Moore revamp here* has to be one of the most creatively bankrupt moves I've seen in awhile and comics has tons of those. Honestly, bravo.

To be blunt this is the problem going back to the first arc of this Cap run. It's a white guy with zero awareness and real interest in the topics he's writing about jamming them into a situation he's not equipped for. It just comes off as thoughtless as Millar/Hitch Ultimates or any Dixon comic.

This post is unavailable.

I don't know about Zdarsky or the kind of people who go "Intriguing and very thoughtful" about the billionth comic where yet another guy with an operator beard feels bad for a second about blowing up Iraqi NPCs, but I've lost interest in seeing a place I know used as fodder for Miracleman events.

Oh so this is just Doomsday Clock but somehow worse. 🤣

Ashur S.@screading.bsky.social

Anyway I'm glad Marvel and no modern white dude writer was feckless enough to use Iraq as a proving ground for American heroism in some recent story-- oh fuck...
