It’s time to shove OPTO down their throats. The TWU rank-and-file shouldn’t empower anti-labor right wing chuds.

Sam@samd.bsky.social

TWU be like “Hochul is MAGA because she doesn’t support our MAGA union” in reality, they’re just mad at Hochul because she refused to expand the union’s expensive handouts and make-work jobs funded with taxpayer $$

From the former member perspective: the deals they negotiated for office workers sucked and I was told to go fuck myself when I made my feelings politely known.

For someone who lives far from the east coast, can you say more about why this union is so awful?

From the political perspective: they would prefer to keep transit as a make-work jobs program and that's why we're the only subway system with two crew on almost every train. They're also the big reason why it took so long to end carriage horse rides.

soooooo which one of these four are the anti-semites?

about twenty five people showed up in front of Brooklyn's best public transit station, to protest better transit yesterday. big "we demand to be taken seriously" energy.

Crowds and lines in Soho have made the tiny narrow sidewalks impassable? Let's blame the street design choices rather than the popular businesses please.

One of the problems raised by the Caffe Paradiso lines would be solved if we didn't insist on having 2 parking lanes and one moving lane for cars on every single street in Soho.

What's it like to have a viral coffee shop on your block? According to multiple Nolita residents who spoke to Hell Gate, it's pretty terrible. The word "nightmare" came up in multiple interviews. Take a deep breath, then read the full story here: hellgatenyc.com/caffe-paradi...

the UK is just cooked. seems like every boomer there has taken up NIMBY as their retirement hobby because god forbid people have access to affordable groceries

The folks who were going to protest the Bergen St. bike boulevard and bus redesign on Thursday are now doing it on Saturday morning. The white women organizing this have coopted BLM imagery, and they've dropped the fact that they're protesting against "fast buses" from some versions of the flyer.

It's fix it. That's why we OVERWHELMINGLY elected a Mayor who ran on "FAST BUSES". It's why he's continuing a project started by the LAST MAYOR, who these people overwhelmingly supported, especially when he engaged in secret meetings with them to try and kill projects THEY didn't like.

look, I understand why people blindly believe "cars will make everything better", but when they show up with AI-generated signs, protesting street safety projects being enacted because PEOPLE DIED, I can't take them seriously.

..and Yvette Clarke, who is technically still a congressperson, but I don't think people have seen her in public in years.

Let's be honest: the streetscape in NYC sucks for EVERYONE: drivers, pedestians, transit users, cyclists. The answer isn't "Leave it alone".

If I was a freelance New Yorker illustrator, learning the art director was really good at using Claude would be a red flag

Ultimately this is my problem with car people. They only see scenarios in which they suffer zero inconvenience as worthy compromises. They will never give up anything of value to anyone else. And they think this makes them the heroes.

At least they finally said what they’re protesting after prodding by @brooklynspoke.bsky.social. Never mind that DOT presented the Flatbush plans over and over again. Compromise to these people - who admit to driving everywhere - just means getting what they want. www.instagram.com/p/De2hqSSo6l...

Because I stopped to check out how many tickets this guy had, we avoided getting hit by a DIFFERENT car that sped backwards on to Cumberland Street. SPOILER ALERT: lots of tickets.

Here’s someone who insists that Borough President Antonio Reynoso “must not be from [Brooklyn]” because he supports Flatbush Avenue bus priority. Antonio Reynoso was born and raised in South Williamsburg.

so much going on here: parked in a crosswalk, in front of a hydrants, 37 violations, $750 owed, and front grill almost as tall my girlfriend.

Seriously though, a woman from Pennsylvania who moved to NYC is more detrimental to “making generational New Yorkers leave” than someone saying some shit on Instagram. And no amount of digital blackface will make it ok.

"The Jews who went to Mississippi didn't take selfies and post tweets." Okay, but honestly, if tweets had been a thing in 1961, many of them probably would have done.

and this isn't a slam on them! They are doing great work! I just know they have to do 10x the amount of work, for 1/10th of the pay, for 1/10th of the reach.

this is my big issue with YouTube. Its essentially just replaced Basic Cable, except people used to get paid for making basic cable. Now everyone just makes their own content, out of their own bank account, and kinda hope, one day, it might make them money.

Something has happened to the word "autistic" where there are now people in their 30s and 40s self-identifying as autistic without knowing what autism actually is. And today I was assumed to be autistic by someone in their 30s simply because I was running late to class.

“Look, I’m not sure what MCR could do that would make we want to see the Long Live The Black Parade tour a third time.” “They added a power point presentation.” “Ok, when do tickets go on sale?”

This woman lives next to the 31st St. bike lane in Astoria and has a TikTok schtick where she takes videos of it without cyclists, but there are always vehicles illegally parked in it so half the video is her trying to preempt commenters pointing that out with false assertions that it’s allowed
