Got some time to focus on the #NUnit docs finally! 17 PRs closed and 8 pending, including: * A preview site for every docs PR * Make the "Edit page" button viewable on mobile * Add an example column to the Constraints list * Documenting how Tolerances work * Lots of long-overdue minor improvements

Trump's Attorney General Todd Blanche: There was this misperception that there's this 'separation' and 'independence' between the Department of Justice and the White House and everybody likes to accuse me of not suffering from independence. I don't. I work for President Trump.

Fewer things are more frustrating to me (in a work context) than being forced to rely on sub-par / unreliable tooling to achieve an outcome. (This post sponsored by a proprietary build tool for a proprietary product that just broke several environments with zero logs.)

I may just not be plugged in but I feel surprised I don't see it framed this way more. Maybe I should dust off the ol' blog..

Weird it's almost like blanket top-down approaches can't work and you instead need to pay attention to people saying where tools/practices can drive value and then run experiments and learn and share and foster change. You just know these companies "do agile and DevOps" too.

We use some AI at work. We introduced it with experiments. We learned small lessons and looped them back in. We made choices about guardrails and not sacrificing quality. Made people responsible for their tools. Now I find it to be *immensely* helpful and oftentimes a joy.

AI is not without its major problems. I remain torn on it in many ways. But this aspect feels the most solvable -- except for the fact that AI is an expression of organizational culture and so many of those are so command-and-control that they fundamentally lack the ability to capture its value.

You know what feels really good? A security lifecycle that goes like this: * CVEs released by .NET ecosystem * Run a script to wait until the patched versions are available * Have PRs ready to go * Merge and deploy 5 applications soon as patches arrive About the fastest turnaround possible.

Just saying: team of 7 over here, serving several of the Fortune 500. Building up a process we have pride in got us here, and I love it.

@blowdart.me I was surprised that after all the CVEs just announced, the fixed releases weren't out available via MCR, dotnet-setup, etc. so that we could quickly patch. Just curious: is the gap between announcement & publish an intentional balancing?

I 100% get that it's a complex landscape. Was thinking "oh, since it's announced, I can go patch immediately". But I'm wondering whether I should be setting my expectations differently.

This is exactly what ICE said: "Parra-Hernandez ran in front of an ICE vehicle and was struck." Now watch the video. They're no other word for it: They're lying.

Eric Umansky@ericumansky.bsky.social

Watch an ICE agent run down and then run over a man. The man was was then writhing on the ground, saying "You broke my leg! You broke my leg!" Agents didn't help him. And btw, the man wasn't the target of their operation.

Friday night is typically when administrations do the things they're proudest of, right?

Bobby Kogan@bbkogan.bsky.social

Russ Vought just sent a rescissions request to Congress, signaling he intends to illegally impound funds. The $810 million highlighted in this โ€œrequestโ€ (but this is a pretext to just illegally impound the funds) is not the exhaustive list of many billions of dollars heโ€™s impounding this year.

Psst if you're returning an HTTP 5xx error but the error message is about validation findings on the input, you probably want that to be a 4xx error. #HowIsThisStillAThing

If you are developing and running a cloud-based product in production, in 2026, and you are unable to detect a major loss of functionality and communicate it clearly to consumers, you are unprofessional. Full stop.

* I sponsored the project via GitHub sponsors on behalf of our org. * Followed the clear instructions to update the dependency and add our sponsorship info. * Voila! All done. I mention this because good tools deserve funding if that's what they think they need, and Verify adds a ton of value.

* Teammate updated our dependencies, and saw the build broke for Verify * Noted that Verify added the OSMF * Added an item to our weekly roundtable meeting * We discussed options: pay $240/yr, do without those tests, or rewrite them. * ROI immediately evident. Team voted to keep.

Precisely thisโ€”the power attributed to technology makes it incredibly useful for laundering responsibility

The AI industry wants you to say "the AI just did that thing on its own!" Like, United Health's AI that's denying a shitload of claims with a 90% error rate? They wanted you to think it's just the AI.

The best recovery from an insane work week: neighborhood Celtic fest! I am eating Shepherd's pie and drinking a Smithwicks in the middle of a beautiful day. Perfect.

Just dusted off a process I created and automated 2+ years ago, in about 10 minutes. Will save dozens of hours for the teammate using it. A nice win for a Friday. ๐ŸŽ‰

They're not outsourcing the decisions so much as attempting to outsource the accountability. Innocent people will die because of this, and blame will be avoided, unless we ensure it's not.

(1/5) Pentagon leadership has said that by the end of this month, Palantir's Maven artificial intelligence system will become a line item with stable, long-term funding in the defense budget (a "program of record"). #News #Palantir #AI

CW: Alcohol I treated myself to a birthday present tonight: a scotch I'd been staring at for a long time but just couldn't justify. :) Balvenie Portwood 21. Absolutely *delightful*. Everything I personally could want in a scotch. An experience. 40, we'll get along just fine I think.

You guessed it -- they started removing all the chart source from their repositories, like they said they wouldn't. This was a surprise and left us stranded with stuff we couldn't update. I offered to pay. I put in the time. And still got hosed.

Still, I do owe @bitnami.bsky.social a thanks. They got us up and running quickly in the beginning which allowed me to get our product's legs under it without worrying about that part of the ecosystem. Just wish it could have gone better, since there was so much room for it to.

I had weeks of discussions with Bitnami. I offered to pay a reasonable fee for our usage/org size (their fee would be 50% of our entire infra). Conclusion: we could fork the repo and add our own build process, since the charts would remain available. I invested a lot of time to do that right. Welp.

incredible work by 1PW leadership fucking up bad enough that a fight over Arch Linux for Racists escaped containment so completely that now Jamelle Bouie's telling 750k very online millennials, almost certainly the demographic most likely to pay for 1PW, to go cancel their 1PW subscription tonight

Random thought: JDD - Joneses Driven Development. Where AI leaders make you think everyone is doing it, so you also try to do it, and the AI leaders get your money (a lot of it) Evolve things from your own context. Seek to improve from where you are. Gall's Law is still a thing.
