🇨🇦 Riding a bike makes me happy! Probably because it keeps me off social media. And cross country skiing is pretty cool too! Cycling advocate in YYC. My friends call me Jim. #yycbike

Yet another reminder for all those out there sporting “I ❤️ oil and gas” shirts and bumper stickers that it doesn’t ❤️ you back.

The US owns more than 60% of the oil sands. ConocoPhillips announces lay offs—the moment their fall-to-the-USA plans were foisted—yet hat 🎩 in hand 🖐️ still for a 🇨🇦public-paid pipeline & CCS scam. #abpoli #cdnpoli Cc @mark-carney.bsky.social @naheednenshi.bsky.social www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/arti...

"24 St SW Pathway & Quarry Trail" closure is extended from today to Nov 1. For the entire closure period (Aug 25) there has been 4 days(?) requiring full closure at the bottom. Given how many use this corridor, accommodation for a secure detour around the perimeter could have been provided. #yycbike

Yes, the city did map out and sign a detour but the added distance by bike or by walking is not insignificant and is biased by "car brain" thinking.

All pretty Ontario/Lower Mainland wintery out there (86% humidity ugh), but the MUPs are fine, just mind those bridge decks, got a little spin coming up to the pedestrian bridge going into Prince’s Island #yycbike

It would be nice if news headlines/reports stopped saying “BC Conservatives win first majority in a century” when the BC Liberals and Socreds won plenty of majorities and were, you know, conservative.

As the count continues, we are getting a clearer picture of the results from Monday's AB referendum: 1. Separation was trounced 2. No real mandate on the heavily pushed Q1-9 Big picture: the Urban-Rural divide Cgy+Edm voted No on all questions Rest of Alberta (combined) voted Yes

Albertans should be furious about this. Danielle Smith: 1) Lowered the threshold for signatures on a petition 2) Extended the duration in which they could be collected 3) Continues to pretend the people who signed the Forever Canada petition wanted a referendum Shameless.

Today was a day of car based errands so I found myself on Glenmore Trail at the unfortunate time of 5pm. 3+ lanes of westbound traffic from Blackfoot Trail to Sarcee Trail and seldomly got up to 30km/h yet not a bike lane in sight to blame. 🤔

Let's not forget the money and time that was wasted on this referendum. Gerrymandering of urban ridings, to dilute "big city" opposition to this government, is up next for this inept government along with Doug Ford style attacks on wheeling infrastructure. The fight is not over. #yyc #yeg #abpoli

It’s apparent that Danielle Smiths definition of sovereignty does not match the standard definition

Horrible. And just one example of the kind of road violence many of us have experienced first hand.

TW Last week our client was cycling in Hamilton. He passed James Newlands in his grey pickup truck. Words were exchanged, Newlands sped unsafely past our client then brake checked. Shocking video confirmed Mr. Newlands intentions & shed light on this terrible incident of road rage 1/3

The number of separatists in Alberta is very small, but every single one of them will vote in the separation referendum. It’s critical that everyone who doesn’t want separation votes as well, or else this could easily be Canada’s own Brexit moment. Don’t assume anything. Vote.

Brent Toderian@brenttoderian.bsky.social

Please don’t assume anything, Alberta. Vote against the Russian and American-fuelled separation self-sabotage. Send a strong message to the rest of Canada that we’re in this together. Foreign actors want you to vote for your own Brexit or Trump… or to help them win by just staying home.

Listen: I don’t want to minimize the danger of high e-bike speeds. But if the problem here is that stores sell e-bikes that can drive faster than legal limits, then where’s the story about how literally *every car dealership has been doing the same thing for decades*?!?

This is the part many Americans -- including the Bezosites at the Washington Post -- don't understand. Canadians don't see this just as a Trump thing. It's that America elected him twice, and the second time with an even bigger mandate. The problem we're addressing is America, not Trump.

My latest: the Alberta NDP's byelection win revealed the province's frustration with their separatism-curious premier. In order to win the next election, the NDP needs to do something even harder: tell a compelling economic story. #abpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/09/16/o...

nationalobserver.comThe Alberta NDP still needs an economic storyThe Alberta NDP shocked almost everyone by winning a byelection in a traditionally safe conservative seat. Now it has to do something even harder: tell its own economic story for the province.

The myth Alberta 'subsidizes' the rest of Canada is the most powerful meme in the separatist armoury. But it's utterly false. I show that most Albertans get more back from federal programs than they personally pay in federal taxes, for @thetyee.ca: thetyee.ca/Opinion/2026... #abpoli /2

thetyee.caNo, Alberta Does Not ‘Subsidize’ the Rest of Canada | The TyeeThe vast majority of workers get more from federal programs than they give.

A friendly reminder that “pedal assist” requires pedals. Rolled out Skidloader this morning, having forgotten that I had borrowed the pedals for my adventure bike this weekend, Oops! More specifically, pedals are on loan from ATB because I wore out the spindles on Skid pedals after 16000km #yycbike
