I actually don’t think the Dem spin on who did the shutdown is necessary because it is probably a good idea to try to limit government functions if you think the ruling party is doing accelerated fascism

Pritzker: "People of Illinois, we need your help. Get our your cell phones, record and narrate what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors. We need to let the world know that this is happening and that we won't stand for it."

Trump just ordered the military into Portland, and he’s giving them the green light to use lethal force on American citizens. Authoritarianism is an abstract concept but Trump is making its impacts real and tangible. Let’s be real about it: This is the beginning of dictatorship in America.

congrats to joe brandon and all the purported defenders of democracy who normalized cracking heads on student protestors in order to cover for israeli genocide. you really greased the skids for ol donnie trump to formally submarine the first amendment

charlie kirk was a bigoted sack of shit and he thought random gun deaths were an acceptable consequence of having the second amendment, i wonder if he revised that opinion in the brief time between getting shot and dying. didn't think your number would come up, didya charlie

in the US conservative mindset cishet conservative white men are top of the hierarchy and thus it is bad to shoot them, but also they are allowed to shoot people, so if one kills another it's just a wash. cancels out. thoughts and prayers, nothing to see here

genuinely saw a liberal talking about newsom as doing some things wrong (anti-homeless policies) but some things right (trolling trump on the internet) and i really wonder about the worth of that second thing, there. is that doing anything at all

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced he is sending CHP officers assigned to Crime Suppression Teams into San Diego, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Central Valley, Sacramento, and the San Francisco Bay Area. He will, among other things, use predictive policing to suppress “criminal activity.”

Dem electeds want influencers in media to say stuff like "I sure do approve of the job our wonderful Dem electeds are doing" when the thing Dems need influencers to actually say is like "the shitty economy is really shit right now huh"

i don't think you guys understand. when the dem politicians and strategists say something is a distraction what they mean is anything they could do about it would be hard work and bum them out so they're simply going to choose not to

pointless to say this but the democrat leaders should be out there banging the drum that they're going to tear these agencies apart & prosecute every single masked fash who ever did some shit while refusing to identify themselves

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

Masked men jumped a San Bernardino family in unmarked cars, opened fire, and shattered their truck windows—all while the family was just coming home from work. The feds later admitted it was CBP, but the family says the agents never showed warrants or IDs.

There’s a reason why progressives pushed for: - campaign finance reform - expanding the Supreme Court - voter protection laws - DC statehood …because we knew moments like these were inevitable. …and we were told these democracy protections were “too radical.”

If Jerry Seinfeld was president in 2001, he woulda armed Bin Laden

Jo@reconfirm.bsky.social

Before reading the thread I thought you were talking about Jeremy Corbyn. Had he been PM in 2022 he would have armed* Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. * Parliament and the people would have stopped this but he would have tried.

We’re seeing clear evidence that Dems cannot continue to sit back in silence as fascists take control of our society. Dems have to start deliberately calling out and campaigning on revitalizing education, supporting working people, and dismantling the police state that this admin has built.

Tonight, I introduced legislation to stop Trump from from leading us into an illegal war with Iran. Another war in the Middle East could cost countless lives, waste trillions more dollars, and lead to even more deaths, more conflict, and more displacement.

Okay, we’ve got the strongly worded letter, we’ve got the strongly worded speech. Now Newsom will follow through with defending the people of his state from a military incursion, right?

People talk about how some treat politics like a team sport but it's actually worse than that because fans of sports teams at least allow each other to say their team sucks. There are no Rockies fans rn who are like "Mentioning the record is what Giants fans want us to do, this is a distraction."

The pretend surprise that oligarchs aren’t fighting an oligarch president is only topped by the genuinely deranged assertion that “business leaders used to stand up to power.” Just absolutely crazy stuff right here — completely beyond parody

You would think "American children should work in mines and factories and rich people need another multi trillion dollar tax cut" would be a pretty easy political platform to defeat or at least message against but nope that ball is still just right there sitting on the tee

When people said “abolish ICE,” this is why. The politicians from both parties who called that “radical,” blindly funded them and called it “immigration reform,” because they were getting campaign donations from the corporations getting ICE contracts. And now we’re here.

Right now, Dems are hiding in their offices, scrolling their phones fearfully, wondering "how are voters going to feel about the National Guard being deployed?" The right, meanwhile, is vigorously *attempting to shape* how voters feel about it, filling every medium with coordinated propaganda.
