Absolutely thrilled to reveal what we've been up to - bringing years of narrative tooling experience to a brand new platform that supports the whole studio.
We've seen first-hand how valuable well-designed narrative tools can be, and are really excited to share what we're building ๐งก
tarinoi.com
We're building Tarinoi - an integrated narrative design and production toolkit for game studios of all sizes - intended for anybody making a game where the words matter.
Take a look at tarinoi-works.com - if you're a studio or narrative designer interested in helping us develop it, drop us a line!
I stay sane even with all thatโs going on by putting more effort into encouraging and engaging with art then I do talking about the shit that corporations are doing. They want you to have no hope or joy to make their moves easer. Donโt let them take joy from you without a fight.

The Westness brooch-pin formed part of a Viking-Age grave disturbed by a farmer at Westness, Rousay, Orkney, #OTD in 1963. It is silver decorated with gold, amber and glass. The grave contained the remains of a young woman and newborn child. ๐ธNational Museums Scotland
Any marketing/PR people attending AdventureX this year? Asking for... reasons. Would love to meet up at the event and chat. Reach out to me if so. dave at wadjeteyegames dot com.
Distraint messed me up a bit (complimentary) so I haven't played Distraint 2 YET, but I will. When I've stopped hiding behind this cushion.
(I was briefly a debt collector! Never thought THAT would be my weakness.)
I just finished testing DISTRAINT 2 beta on Android, and just like with DISTRAINT: Deluxe Edition mobile ports, @clickteam.bsky.social is doing a fantastic job! Also, it's been a while since I played DISTRAINT 2. It took me back, for sure.... ๐ #distraint
South Terrace, Cork city centre: polypody, heart's tongue and maidenhair spleenwort ferns spring from a damp old brick wall.
If your eyes are open to it, we're surrounded by the relics of our lost natural rainforest heritage.
If big game publishers just want number to go up, fire everyone and just invest it all in mutual funds or something. If you donโt want to actually make a product, and you donโt want to build a business around making a product, just liquidate your assets and stop pretending you want to make anything.
Like if I were a major shareholder I would be livid. This is wonton destruction of these publishersโ most precious assets. Itโs like literally setting fire to millions of dollars of property and equipment. Itโs wildly irresponsible and self-sabotaging.
and even if we were in a world where layoffs meant two dozen new indie studios overnight, the drones who parrot this nonsense would ignore their games for not being AAA quality
please stop replying to game devs saying things like "well look on the bright side those laid off devs can start their own indie studios now" because eventually one of us is going to snap and "WITH WHAT FUCKING MONEY" would be a shitty last thing to hear before you die
I'm not sure governments are fully-prepared for a world where thousands of people are left both unemployed, and whose skills are suddenly non-transferable.
me in any game with good/evil choices: I am some kind of benevolent saint. not a hair shall be harmed on these NPC heads
me in any city management sim: unless

We're looking for a graphic designer/illustrator to join the Hello Sunshine team for a few months, starting ASAP. There are a lot of artists here looking for new opportunities so I'd be super grateful if y'all could share this call with your followers! www.redthreadgames.com/graphic-desi...
This is wild, my name's in the credits for Silent Hill: Townfall!?!
I know a lot of studios use the Game UI Database, but I think this is the first time anyone's actually put me in the credits because of it ๐ญ I'm so touched by this!!
I'm sure there are still a lot of people out there that don't know we're working on a weird point and click adventure with deduction mechanics that owes as much to What Remains of Edith Finch as to Return of he Obra Dinn (but probably easier ๐ )
So, wishlist and make some noise!
Sourced and sold antiquarian books - mostly 1860s-1890s, some occult/esoterica, some folklore, some natural history. Occasionally got lucky with classic fiction. Just loved the beautiful bindings, and would price them just high enough that I felt sure they'd be well looked-after.
Looking forward to digging into the life of Joseph Bell, whose medical, observational and detective skills inspired Conan Doyle, and who also grew tired of the fame it brought, fearing it overshadowed his actual accomplishments in medicine, forensics, criminology and improving medical standards.
A bit of suburban woodland if you know where to look. Went to visit a particularly excellent Norwegian Maple tree, some burnt-out ruins no one's known what to do with for decades, and the remnants of the gardens of a long-lost hall.
David Matzliach has documented some of the loss the estate has suffered over time. I remember the brief period pre-covid where there was funding and a plan for renewal, but it didn't work out.

Not autoimmune, but after sustaining a physical injury and hearing damage through faulty equipment in the workplace, the hospital sent me to a specialist to oversee recovery.
He was a psychiatrist. We realised the error only after he'd spent half an hour trying to convince me it was all in my head.
There was a sort of "mate have you even looked at my file?" moment and he flicked through and was like "right, I don't think you actually need me then."
OK - so who are the lucky ones who DO get the hysteria treatment?
"I Shall Name the Dead" is just beautiful. Really enjoying the demo.

I didn't realise Uni open days were all at the same time. We had a good one. He already knew this was the course for him but today really confirmed it.
Mildly perturbed by Stan Chow's balloon Mancunians. Giving me 'Shooting Stars Loyd Grossman' vibes.
Anyone who sells you a tool that promises to outsource the work of your relationships, or the loving tasks of connecting to our friends and family, is someone who is trying to rob you of your own humanity. For god's sake. Say no to this. Say no to all of it.
What should go in the Big Menu? Inspired by @rystorm.com 's article reminding us that Sensible Defaults Do Not Exist, and that tool UIs should be customisable for different workflows, swap in the controls and shortcuts you need, and swap out the ones you aren't using right now

Ticket's bought for tonight's town hall pop up cinema screening of Murnau's Nosferatu, with live cello score.
If I was a vampire, newly moved into the area, I'd harvest fresh, but healthy aged, blood by pretending to host a pop up cinema screening of Murnau's Nosferatu, with live cello score.
This is a fascinating read about how almost all critical web-based infrastructure is kept going by only a small handful of volunteers.
We depend so much upon so few people.

Lookit. Deep down every Irish person wants to spin some yank a yarn that gets cited as fact in some factual text.
We told an Irish American girl that when the Muppets was released in Ireland, Kermit the Frog was called Dermot the Frog because Cromwellโs son was a Kermit.
Relatedly, I firmly believe the fastest way to improve your worldbuilding tools is to make your tools engineer sit next to a Worldbuilder for a day and just watch them use it.
Worldbuilders are used to suffering in silence. Sometimes, tools engineers need to experience shame.
I firmly believe any game writer is demonstrably better at their job once they at least understand (and ideally can actively participate in) the implementation process.
