Since right-wing grifters all over the world like to make up claims about how migrants "cost us all money" and "eat up our benefits", here's a great analysis from known left-wing think-tank *checks notes* Cato Institute on why it's complete bullshit and it's actually the other way around.

David J. Bier@davidjbier.bsky.social

The White House Council of Economic Advisers claims mass deportation pays for itself because illegal immigrants impose such huge fiscal costs. What are these costs? It doesn't say, so I figured out what CEA did to invent them... www.cato.org/blog/white-h...

Over the past few months, my daughter (8 yo) has been totally hooked on Animal Crossing and Pokopia. Since those are single-player games, I started missing playing together, so I picked up a physical copy of Orbitals.

Just to add, my solo exhibition was also on view in Gliwice, where I led a guided tour on October 10 (as a bit of practice before the tours in Łódź). You’d think someone who likes to talk would have no problem with it, but when you have to talk for 2 or 3 hours straight, it gets pretty exhausting.

The exhibition wrapped up the 5th edition of the GIK. I had a fantastic time, and we got to chat about the PRODUKT exhibition (and future) and Bartłomiej Kluska’s book on the history of the magazine (published by EC1 and Kultura Gniewu). Photos: GIK tinyurl.com/bdfude5m

Each tour lasted over two hours (we have quite a few artefacts to look at and discuss), but we could easily have spent two or three times as long exploring everything. The next tour is coming up in less than a month! ⬇️Photos: Szymon Holcman

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

theatlantic.comThe Man Who Saved the Internet YesterdayOndřej Surý was a relatively anonymous volunteer working on PHP security. Then the internet exploded.

♦️I got back on my feet after a week of being sick and immediately started cleaning up, of course. I found the 1st doodle, which a few days later became a poster for the PRODUKT magazine exhibition (on view at EC1 in Łódź until March 7) and, at the same time, the cover of Bartłomiej Kluska’s book.

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

This is the most remarkable story Ray Bradbury ever shared with me. He told it to me late one night, sitting in his den of antiquities and mementos. Take five minutes to read this. It’s pure magic. #Writing #Living #Creativity #RayBradbury #BookSky

I took only three pictures over the weekend. My scribble in "Produkt" magazine that rhyme with @sldz.bsky.social scribble, a cool squirrell and our alternative afterparty with snacks and new video by Robert Makłowicz. I don't have any picture of the actual festival, cause things were too busy.

What a surprise! I’m working on another animated series pilot (the project is already quite advanced, but it’s only just coming to light). ▶️https://tinyurl.com/589j55wk

“Tolo & Bolo” is based on Agata Romaniuk’s book "Tolo i Bolo ratują lisią górkę" (published by Wydawnictwo Agora), with illustrations by the talented Anna Oparkowska. Screenplay: Szymon Wróblewski and Izabela Smolińska. Produced by Filmograf. The project is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.

The animated trailer that I wrote, storyboarded, directed, and designed some of the backgrounds and animation for was presented at the Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, which has just wrapped up. 🥂

In May of 1940 there was a mass panic in Britain - stirred up by the tabloid press - about 'fighting aged men' who had come to Britain as 'refugees' posing a threat to the women and children of this country - and essentially forming a 'fifth column' that could, at any moment rise up against everyone

Yesterday’s Zelda Direct unlocked a long-forgotten compartment in my brain. Back in 2008 I made an almost 30-second animated parody of the game (assembled in Windows Movie Maker🙃). It’s very much unfinished, but also… quite the bizarre little artifact.

Once upon a time the small press shelves would be full of comics anthologies providing a platform for exciting emerging creators. Now they’re a rarity. And they are *so* important. BOXES has been consistently excellent and the latest issue needs your support. Let’s do this!

ThirdBear Press@thirdbearpress.bsky.social

The BOXES Vol. 5 Kickstarter ends on Friday at 12 noon (UK time). We still have just under £1500 to raise before then to make it happen. Can you help us bring this anthology full of gorgeous comics to life? Check the campaign page here to see: www.kickstarter.com/projects/thi... Thanks 📦📦📦

Posters for the PRODUKT magazine exhibition are already popping up in cities across Poland! My man @mluczakk.bsky.social (one responsible for bringing the magazine back after 20 years), has poured a lot of heart, hard work and time into this amazing event! 18.09.26/Łódź🇵🇱/EC1. Everyone's invited!

As you already know, on September 18, the PRODUKT magazine (of which I have been the editor-in-chief since 1999) invites you to the opening of an exhibition documenting the magazine’s rich and turbulent history. We're adding a BOOK to the attractions! Pure good! Pure evil! Pure PRODUKT!

In September, I’ll be visiting Gorlice (September 13) and Łódź (September 18–20), so I had to take another look at the archives. While I was at it, I realized I haven’t posted many drawings here lately. How about a quick 🧵? 1. Alan Moore's portrait 2. Hydrozagadka movie poster 3. Book illustration

7. Osiedle Swoboda comic book cover 8. something slavic 9. Wokół Narracji Interaktywnej (book cover) Unfortunately, most of my work (projects, storyboards, animatics) has been going into animations lately, so it'll be a little while before they see the light of day. ⛔

43 t-shirts with my illustrations and designs. There are more out there, but I didn't manage to collect them. Bands, labels, video and tabletop games, skateboarding, comics, wrestling. I can do anything.

A significant portion of the budget for the 1 season of Tiny Fox and Great Boar (based on the comics by Berenika Kołomycka) was secured thanks to a grant from the Polish Film Institute. I had the pleasure of directing the pilot episode of the series💪

🇪🇺🇵🇱💶In stark contrast to increasingly fumbled attempts to promote Poland by the government writ large, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy quietly introduced a new way to promote EU cohesion policy funds, through ... an anime OC (original character), Felicja Europejska. 1/

It looks promising. You know, for me, the train is my main means of transportation even within the city. For longer journeys, it’s basically the only option.

Notes from Poland @notesfrompoland.bsky.social

A speed of 253 km/h (157 mph) has been reached by a Pendolino train during tests as part of preparations to speed up rail connections between Poland’s major cities from next year. The journey time between Warsaw and Kraków will be cut to under two hours.

We’ve just started a two-week holiday, so of course we forgot our daughter’s suitcase. So I went back home, the girls went ahead, and I’ll catch the next train with the lost luggage. Classic.

I really wanted to address this take by @mtsw.bsky.social and they have fairly closed it off, but I am going to use a screenshot because I think this is a really good topic to discuss and as someone for whom this is my entire job and has been for over a decade now I actually agree and disagree... 🧵

I hate to break the bad news, but Primus blew up the Warsaw stage, and there was nothing left of the band afterward. Great, long gig. My back's going to need the next two weeks to recover.

SLDZ@sldz.bsky.social

Because of some unexpected circumstances, I'm swapping places with a buddy at the Primus concert tomorrow. I wasn't supposed to be there, but now I will. He was supposed to go, but unfortunately he can't make it. I’ll buy him a cap at the merch stand.
