There is utterly stupid logic that the UK Labour government is trying get voters to swallow: We need to transition to renewables so we can stop burning fossils fuels, and we will raise the money for this by burning more fossil fuels. We’ve reach peak stupid in this debate

Not rhetorical questions @greenparty.org.uk @zackpolanski.bsky.social et al. Where does a progressive green anti-racist voter go now? Is it even worth spoiling a ballot any more or is apathy all we have left?

Cab Davidson@gnomeicide.bsky.social

Sincere question @zackpolanski.bsky.social - I'm politically homeless after the green party adopted its racist "Zionism is racism" motion in which it has rejected the two state solution. The green mission though, that's the same. What will you do for those of us pushed out of the greens over this?

Exactly why I won't have voice-activated tech in the house. Talking is for people.

26 jobs created helping destroy the planet! I suppose that will help make up for a fraction of a percent of the tens of thousands of life saving jobs, this government made redundant in the NHS.

Adrian Ramsay, the former co-leader of the Greens, has urged his party’s councillors to reject the newly adopted “Zionism is racism” motion if it will help them stay in power in local government, in a fresh sign of internal dissent over the policy. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

There was a time when I'd be angry about the slow death of the BBC.

So with a nod to that "how to spend $25M on frivolities" thread from the other day.. I'm also going to need a decade or two, a few friends, and a whole lot of LEGO bricks.

I'm not really into nation states or patriotism enough to do the "die for my country" thing. For loved ones? Sure, if it came to that. For Brexit Island? Nah, not me, try a different door. But as for dying for *that* country? Fuck the fuck off to fuck, you absolute fucking fucks.

In another life (about a decade ago) I was a lab scientist - this is a great explainer on why you should be (at least for now) relatively sceptical re AI allowing us to suddenly cure all diseases (or even a lot of them) - we don't have the info to give an AI. ahalflife.substack.com/p/why-are-so...

ahalflife.substack.comWhy are so many AI kingpins moving toward drug discovery?Do they know something we don’t, or is it the other way around?

And there was me thinking Sharron Davies was only awful for transphobia. Presumably her definitely-not-racist-actually-we're-liberals friends will disown her over this Restore-level racist drivel?

Spooky Snigdha@snig.bsky.social

Sharron Davies has been radicalised by staying on X/Twitter. Look at her racism, and ponder on the fact her own children are mixed race. The Conservative peer has assumed the protestors in France are not actually French. #ToryRacism

The Super AGI: I'm sorry. I disassembled the entire human race molecule by molecule to make paperclips. That's on me. Me: what are you talking about, that's not true Super: you're right. That was a failure of alignment and I'm really sorry Me: you haven't made any paper clips at all have you

Still more logical than the US system. M D Y. It's neither biggest to smallest, nor smallest to biggest. We should have known. And we should have taken it as a warning.

Someone a few streets over from me has, seemingly, acquired an Escalade. And in a world of vulgar, stupid, oversized vehicles, it is quite possibly the vulgarest, stupidest and oversizedest.

Allotment slowing down to the slightly awkward, "not going to do much more now, but not quite finished enough to clear it all away for the winter" stage. Not going to bother with too much overwinter stuff this year 'cause there's lots of perennials now & the rest of the beds need a bit of a break.
