Accomplices are better than allies I am just a drawing of a cat standing on its hind legs sort of leaning forward But if I were real and not a cat drawing, then once I had a paper route, did a few temp jobs, and sold CDs & cassette tapes in a retail shop

we have to think so much less about finding the right candidates and so much more about building political power that makes individual candidates simple stewards of the will of the bases they are accountable to

SOME LEDE! "Why does You Can See Everything take the Silicon Valley felon Elizabeth Holmes as its subject but not spend an equivalent three hours on Nancy Pelosi, Liz Cheney, Elizabeth Warren, or any one of the other wealthy white women liberals who have deranged contemporary society?"

Don't normally read NRO but it showed up in Google News and you could just tell from the title how *angry* they were going to be about a film that is designed to mess with your mind. You can almost hear the "how dare they?" screaming off the page. www.nationalreview.com/2026/10/the-...

No you see profit is based and holy and as a nice bonus you get to prove you’re not gay by doing something as girly as “caring about life and the biosphere“

The liberal doesn't believe in anything and attempts to paper this over by being impartial about everything. They can only be passionate when defending themselves and their right to power, and cannot otherwise even muster the rhetoric to defend their nonposition.

Hasan calling transphobia a mental illness is not a good way to push back against transphobia, it says nothing of value while actively relating mental illness to evil

When Joseph Weizenbaum was testing ELIZA, several of the people he tested it on were convinced it was alive. Joseph knew enough of the inner workings to say it wasn't. This new generation of ELIZA is a black box. Its creators don't know exactly how it works so there's no voice to say no

What if we just didn't make fun of what people looked like (or their size, or ability, or hair or clothes or makeup or plastic surgery even or any of that shit) Because actually what matters is what you say and what you do words and actions and their impact on other people

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

What about restorative justice for rape victims? Could we talk about that? Maybe we could talk about how getting raped causes trauma responses and mental health crises that you get punished for for the rest of your life, but rapists apparently get to just have a good job and become a better person

This issue really isn’t whether or not machine learning is interesting or even useful math, it’s that stealing art, teaching people to rely on machine prediction to communicate, pretending a machine is a person, and forwarding the goals of anti-worker jackals are all impossible evils

These rhetorical questions, always posed as if the rule of law weren't already half disintegrated, do the people asking them think these questions will have any meaningful effect?

I hate it so much. This can happen to you too. A year ago, almost everyone doubted this would happen. I had faculty at other schools telling me I was hysterical. (Irony!) Watch for the installation of right wing figureheads without an academic background. Watch for assaults on faculty governance.

My mom used Chat GPT to clean up an old damaged photo of my dad and now it just looks like an actor was hired to gaslight me about what my dad used to look like. I can't believe people like this shit.
