i love using neovim. i love the like 80+ plugins i have installed. what i dont love is treesitter devs randomly choosing to break everything to rewrite their shit (for seemingly no benefit) and now instead of writing code im spending my saturday cleaning up their mess in my config

i dont give a fuck how experimental or nightly or whatever the fuck something is. if you put out a plugin that hundreds of thousands of people rely on, dont fucking break it. especially not for a stupid reason that amounts to 'we felt like it'

Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."

It appears ICE murdered someone in cold blood today and their plan is — per usual — to create a fog of lies so the killer does not face justice. We simply can't let that happen. The shooter has to be arrested and so does Bovino. They can't just kill people on the street.

Masked ICE agents, it seems, are now killing American citizens on American streets. Any Democrat who doesn’t support abolishing ICE should be instantly primaried and run out of the party. This is non negotiable. You cannot support the continued existence of this fascist murderous secret police.

If the next Democratic president does anything short of abolishing ICE, arresting every ICE thug and locking them up for a very, very long time, it will have been yet another failed presidency. Regardless of what any individual thug has done, they're a part of a criminal organization.

Not to mention, shutting down every concentration camp, including and especially CECOT. Free all those who were detained. Immediately pardoning all civil immigration offenses and granting permanent residency/citizenship to all undocumented immigrants.

I'm just wishcasting what no Democrat will do. We're likely gonna get the same treatment as Jan 6. A shrug and a "Eh, whaddaya gonna do?" followed by four years of the media using every right wing talking point to lull people into forgetting what the Trump regime was like.

absolutely the fuck not. software was shit before generative AI and it's gotten orders of magnitude worse now.

Simon Willison@simonwillison.net

I think that may be the core division here: if you are an author or an artist the cons of generative AI very likely outweigh the pros for you If you are a software developer the opposite is true

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful. Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened. This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 5: Vito Marcantonio There are many who dismiss our vision for New York as impossible. To them, I say we need look only to our past for proof of how we can shape the future. Tomorrow is Election Day. And this is the final Until It's Done of our campaign.

society would be massively improved if ring doorbells were banned completely actually

the AWS outage is affecting Ring doorbells. Sky News says “some users can’t see outside their house, definitely scary” just look outside your window 😅

CUNY is the nation’s largest urban public university system and an engine of social mobility for the city's working class. But like so many of our public institutions, Andrew Cuomo subject it to years of disinvestment and neglect as Governor. That record cannot be forgotten.

I’m horrified by Trump’s order to send 300 National Guard troops to Chicago. We’re only nine months into a four year term and already the president is trying to invade an American city. If you’re in the Guard, you can and should refuse these orders.

in much of 20th century science fiction, anti-ai/anti-progress bigots are depicted variously as religious fanatics, right wing social conservatives, and so on. it has turned out quite differently.

Overcrowded cells. Unsanitary conditions. Limited access to food and water. These are the conditions that ICE has created at 26 Federal Plaza, which eleven elected officials sought to expose. Instead, they were arrested. They must be released right now — and inspectors let in.

Gwynne Hogan@gwynnefitz.bsky.social

Just now, 11 state and city lawmakers were arrested by DHS police on the 10th floor of 26 Federal Plaza after a hour of demanding access to the ICE lock up on the same floor. @thecity.nyc

in a proper functioning democracy, every election would have a guy who wears the same red beret literally everywhere, to the point where nobody knows what he looks like without it. he should be referred to in the constitution as Hat Guy. if you ever poll below Hat Guy you must end your campaign

it is unbelievably disappointing to see people smear taylor lorenz' reporting on influencers receiving dark money. how can you possibly believe that democrat-aligned outlets are 100% on the right side of issues after the last 2 years of the biden admin and now democrat abstaneousness on trump???
