Dropping 0day isn’t the worst thing a researcher can do. It’s not ideal, but at least orgs can take steps to mitigate. Non disclosure is far worse. What drives researchers toward non disclosure? Threats from vendors. Researchers aren’t criminals unless their crime is curiosity.

ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps. If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken. Hundreds of kids are still detained. We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

people are forming relationships with AI chatbots and it's suddenly a crisis but billions have a personal relationship with a delusion about an invisible man in the sky and we treat that as normal

he’s sending thousands of armed guys from texas to places where any meaningful opposition might crystallize, and they’re still trying to use the courts to stop him. lol.

apple really dropped the ball on ios26/macos26 and tne iphone 17 pro. they're not insanely great, and they're not normal great either. this is a real tragedy, the end of perhaps the most important era since the personal computer was invented.

i absolutely cannot believe that apple shipped this. if heads don’t absolutely roll for this the company is toast. they should have pushed the release back. this “must release everything at once because new iphone” is insanity.

why do we as a society simply accept that you can’t check valuables into luggage with airlines? why is it that in most places your things are more safe in the trunk of your car on a street than under 400 cameras in a secured building with badge access? police are such lazy trash

i am not against all regulation of ownership of arms, just most of it - similar to the regulation around publishing. one heuristic you should use when proposing legislation in the wake of a tragedy: “if this were already in place, would it have prevented this outcome today?” almost all i see is “no”

imagine advocating for restrictions on private ownership of arms (that naturally do not apply to police or the military) in 2025 in Trump’s America. the mind reels

Also, we have data now showing that being in a data breach really does increase your chance of being a victim of identity theft, even if you never slip up and leak or accidentally authorize something you shouldn't.

nbcnews.comSocial Security number leaked? Chances are, a criminal is already trying to use itA study found that people whose Social Security numbers are leaked through data breaches are far likelier to be targeted by identity thieves.

remember when system 7 came out, the glee you experienced? or the first time you tried elastic scrolling on ios (which wasn’t even called that yet), or the first time you installed os x and experienced preemptive multitasking? how about your first ipod? what was your last touch of insanely great?

the “light” in the verb “to gaslight” refers to a noun, the light from a gaslamp. therefore the past tense is “gaslighted”, not “gaslit”.

i heard someone complaining recently about men using the FLINTA-designated toilets at Berghain. i really wanted to ask: “so you assumed someone’s gender by looking at them, and then began policing what toilets they are allowed to use?” i’m pretty sure the T stands for trans?

did you know that germany does not require cholesterol amounts on regulation-standardized nutrition labels? it's 2025 guys.

when a groundbreaking new tool is provided to society, your emotional response and commentary says a lot about you. AI is definitely groundbreaking, and is definitely going to be a paradigm shift. if you listen to the neverending stream of Negative Nancies, however…

the apple vision pro is not insanely great. it’s barely good. it’s not great. it’s plain as day not insanely great to even the thickest among us. there is no excuse for it shipping as it is.

NEW: Apple patched a zero-day in WebKit that “may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals.” This is second time, AFAICT, that Apple uses the "extremely sophisticated" phrase for a patched bug. techcrunch.com/2025/03/11/a...

In VRChat's current open beta, PC desktop users can try out the "Selfie Expression" feature, which adds webcam based head, mouth, eye, hand and finger tracking, so you can move around like this without needing VR (all you need is a webcam)

a counterpoint: I have been driving a tricked out and customized cyberbeast (the fastest/max trim cybertruck) for two weeks now and have received nothing but positive looks/feedback thus far. people who ride in it say things like “i hate that i like it” and “actually this is pretty cool”.

spoon theory is a coping strategy that allows people to externalize their psychological weakness so that they can remain victims through no fault of their own. it’s not ableist to say that if you choose to justify weakness over pursuing strength, your weakness is at least partially your fault.

i’m about to get banned from tiktok for comment strikes for saying things like “pigs deserve nothing” and “that guy with blue hair seems like a dick” (on a video with me with blue hair in it) lol

left a comment on a concern troll video on tiktok and now people are DMing all of my followers trying to spread harmful fictions. wonder what i should do here

i just watched a movie where the brightly colored nonsensical president and his evil supergenius research techie affiliate destroyed a bunch of infrastructure in DC. it’s such good fiction

this just in: spies are still trash, just like they were before

privacy, that’s apple. that’s why their new party event invitation app uploads your location to apple, which everyone knows is critical to soliciting RSVPs for birthday parties.

the slash in the pronoun identifier is not so you can pick two. it’s so that you can specify accusative and dative. he/him, they/them, she/her. i read “she/they” as “i don’t know grammar”.

today, as every day, about 20,000 mothers’ children drew their last breath because they didn’t have access to clean drinking water. tomorrow? another 20,000. and the day after. please tell me more about how terrible it is that 5000 rich people’s houses burned down
