My thoughts on the current state of AI driven software development, why I'm no longer concerned about a runaway intelligence explosion, and what I think is a far worse outcome we could be walking into maevyn.codes/decoherence

side tangent: I've been using @mu.social and @witchsky.app alongside each and it turns out they all (alongside @bsky.app social-app) redirect to the at record in the selected app/client and not to the app. Which is very useful and also kinda wild.

i want everything i own to have a computer in it, but i want that computer to be MY computer
I want more computer but I want to see less computer. I want my fridge to be smart but I don't want it to show me ads. I want my robot to clean my floor but I don't want it to connect to us-east-1. I don't want pop-ups on my phone. I don't want to "see what's new". I want my tools to do their jobs.
I feel like there's a black hole of esoteric TypeScript types lore that many people go in but only @andarist.bsky.social , @mattpocock.com and @michigantypescript.com have come out of

If you'd like to contribute to an oss project, don't focus on creating PRs. Help the maintainers triage issues and review existing PRs. Test beta releases, and give feedback about new APIs and features. Join the community and be around to help others. They need your care way more than your code now.
I merged in a pretty big change to @tanstack.com Query a while back and thought I'd make blog post about it. Special thanks to @tkdodo.eu for the original RFC and PR review.

the strongest proof of this is that the AI companies go HARD on human-made video. OpenAI has in-house video crew + dedicated sets and put a lot of funding and effort behind the grandmas and kids campaigns. Google AI is pushing a very practical whack-a-mole campaign your company should do this, too
when everyone can generate anything with a prompt, how do you stand out? most app promo videos I see are indistinguishable from each other (because they were likely made w/the same basic prompt) the only way to stand out is to care and to put actual effort into what you make. been true. still true

I am looking for my next career opportunity! I’m an engineering leader, consultant, author, and open-source maintainer. I've been VP of Eng, written books, get 20M weekly downloads on NPM, and more. Know of a role you think I'd be a good fit for? Book time on my cal or DM me: corbincrutchley.com

cool. but now I want an apology from all my enemies and everyone who said I was too "front-end" and not enough "full-stack".
GitHub.com has fully moved off CSS-in-JS to CSS Modules, resulting in 55% less server-side render time and 25% faster component init. https://github.blog/engineering/architecture-optimization/improving-site-performance-by-shipping-more-css/

It's amazing that despite all this, all the models are *still* terrible at writing prose. After the singularity, the superintelligence will keep humans around because the large language model still can't write engaging prose. Stop worrying, #booksky authors.
Opus 5.5 is about as good at coding as Sol, so animations aside I'd kind've missed how much better it is at everything else. It's like an Opus 4.5-level jump, but for productivity.
> Tab 1: @leaflet.pub drafts view, press "New Draft" > Tab 2: edit draft for about 30 mins > Tab 1: new draft has not shown up > Tab 1: hard refresh, ah there it is This might call for a pull request.

Hello World from the PLC organization (plcred.org)! The org was soft-announced back in March at AtmosphereConf. We've been working through logistics step by step and now have a public web presence we can point to.

quick thank you to @tranquil.farm for the pds and @blackskyweb.xyz for the second bsky app relay I could sanity check. and the goat cli from @bsky.app
I got sick of waiting for passkeys on @eurosky.social so I said "fine I'll do it myself" As it turns out the bluesky app doesn't have a normal oauth flow so that doesn't work anyway, but works for leaflet and tangled. Yes I will make a blog post about this.
I had a VERY annoying issue were the migration went to spec but the Bluesky Relay didn't catch up. On that note, @tkdodo.eu can you like and comment on this (from the bsky.app) so I know I'm not shouting into the void.

We already adopted "Human Voice" for @tanstack.com Query. Please adhere to it when contributing 🙏
Today we're launching ai-policy.dev! A collaboration of me, @danielroe.dev and @matteogabriele.npmx.social - this provides a few human curated AI contribution policies you can choose from. Our hope is that this will help you better define your stance and what kind of contributions you accept 🙏
