All the Fauci stuff is a modern day version of the POW/MIA stuff after Vietnam - a way to try to rewrite the history of a huge failure of conservative ideology to be instead a story about how liberals and foreigners stabbed us in the back.

here's the thing about the courts: we actually need more judges! everyone is overworked and cases often linger for ages because there's just not enough capacity in the system to get to them what I'm saying here is the supreme court isn't the only part of the courts we can pack

Jen Bendery@jbendery.bsky.social

Yesterday, the Senate confirmed Katie Lane to a lifetime federal judgeship in Montana even though she earned a rare and embarrassing "not qualified" rating by the American Bar Assn. First of Trump 2.0 court picks to get this rating -- and to be confirmed anyway. www.huffpost.com/entry/senate...

PASS THE HOCHULMANDER

Here’s my example of how New York Democrats could draw a 23-3 map and flip four GOP seats while strengthening several vulnerable seats they currently hold. Dems might not end up passing something quite this aggressive, but their map could still be very effective

I don't think YIMBY will ever win a decisive victory on the affordability front - too many confounding factors. We have to win the argument that *intensification is good in itself*. It is necessary for ecologically sustainable, cosmopolitan, 15-minute, car-free cities. Sprawl is reactionary.

framers basically went "i am going to create a system without those terrible political parties", spent 0.0002 seconds trying to govern without them, and immediately gave up and created them anyway

Reconstructionist@unavaleable.bsky.social

literally the framers and founders found this out the hard way and they were operating in a time when no one knew or understood how (or if!) a contemporary democracy would function

the Democratic Party should have 2 major goals for the next time it holds power: (1) completely rebuild the destroyed federal government capacity, and (2) crush the GOP, which enabled so much corruption and immiseration. destroy their funding, jail their leaders, make it so a new party has to emerge

this is the crux of the matter for me. I just don't believe Platner didn't know what he had on his skin for twenty years. I can imagine forgiving an edgelord take on this but lying about it undermines the entire whole apology, such as there's an apology.

NOT ONCE in this interview does he address the claims by two different people, one of whom was his own political director, that he knew EXACTLY what it was and what it meant YEARS ago. NOT ONCE does he address the Reddit thread he participated in years ago which DIRECTLY DISCUSSED the Totenkopf. 7/

ok. I never argued that, and I don't think that. not going to keep discussing with someone who is going to repeatedly "so you hate waffles". you can read what I said or argue against the version of me you made up in your head, your choice

Democrats can demand a rollback of the Supreme Court ICE racial profiling case. It’s a trivial legislative fix. It poses virtually no political risk for them. It protects 68 million people from open government persecution. It protects basic constitutional values. No government funding without this.

You are up to date.
