Obv FF6/CT did the end game (optional) character quests, that concludes everyone's arc. But thinking through FF7, they were able to work all those arcs in separate small quests in the main story. The macro plot kinda loses some momentum to them, but it is nice to experience that in the linear plot.

On the other hand, it made the optional end game stuff in FFVII to feel a little less story/character resonant and more fetchy/grindy. With the exception of Yuffie's sidequest, Vincent's little optional scene and the Cloud/Zack flashback

Also we still have a paid dlc in works but we have taken some time off to pay bills and refresh ourselves after a year of post release support. Look forward to it though!

Ok, we are finally in the final inspections for our ps4/ps5 Quartet port. No eta of completion, but I can see the light at the end of this long and convuluted process. Thanks for your patience!

I highly recommend this game to JRPG fans. I'm getting close to the end now and it's a great ride. Very well written, solid combat, excellent characters.

Quartet is now 25% off for the Steam Party-Based RPG Fest! #QuartetRPG #Jrpg

Playing this now. Highly recommended for the writing alone. Will have more to say when I finish, but so far this is peak indie-JRPG and has a legit shot of dethroning Chained Echoes as my favorite.

Quartet came out one year ago, August 26th, 2025 on PC, Mac and Linux! What a year it has been! Thank you to everyone who played our game and shared it with their friends! Very grateful. #QuartetRPG

This game is proof that modern RPGs can still have all the charm, intellect, and craftsmanship of the classics

Replying to @maradum.bsky.social

Also HUGE plus point: Most bosses can be affected by stat down and negative effects. I HATE it when you have bosses that are imun to everything and so many games do that. Quartet is definitely at the top of my indie RPG list together with Chained Echoes now.

Finished Quartet and it was absolutely wonderful. Loved everything about it. Combat is basic but with enough mechanics to be engaging, story is well done, characters are interesting and have nice stories and all that in under 30h playtime. Absolute peak RPG!

Real talk. A multi-year gig that I was using to pay bills is suddenly ending on me. If you have any remote positions that could use someone with 10+ years of experience in gameplay & combat design, writing & narrative design, let me know. Or if you're a publisher and want to fund an RPG, contact me.

Born in 1987. I would blow into n64 cartridges, ya. Dunno if this is a ubiquitous experience tho

As you know, there’s a lot of trash on the internet. There’s one thing in particular I’ve seen numerous times, which is someone recalling how they blew into N64 games. Not NES games: N64 games. Literally no one did this, right? Why would anyone reference the N64 instead of the NES for this point?

There's something to be said for indie games these days. I'm drawn more to games that are crafted by smaller studios, that can actually be enjoyed in 15-30 hours. I do enjoy the big titles too, but I rarely finish them. And often the hidden gems seem to have more soul. #Quartet is a good example.

In preparation for the Playstation Port, we did a full QA of the entire game (testing trophies etc...) In the testing we actually found some fun things that were never found either in beta or the entire year the game came out. misc typos, some collision stuff and a... cutscene skip! #QuartetRPG

Our games live and die by word of mouth. Our marketing budget was close to $0 We appreciate everyone who has told people about our games!

"Indies will save us" No! YOU WILL SAVE INDIES! Go leave a review for that neat indie game you like, share the trailer for an upcoming game you're anticipating, tell your fave developer they did a good job, go tell people about such and such game that's just come out, you can make a difference!

Progress report!

Quartet's 1.5 update (most likely our final base game update) will hopefully be out by our 1 year anniversary (Aug 26!) It's mostly a collection of fixes that our QA person found while testing for PS version. But we did want to make it special, so we added two new areas to explore in Ch11!

Something Classic Games has announced that it is putting the final touches on update 1.5 for its turn-based indie pixel-art RPG Quartet. This update brings in two new areas to find and new game plus improvements. Quartet's PlayStation port is also nearly done: www.rpgsite.net/news/21037-q...

We're looking for someone with experience in battle background/panorama pixel art skills to help us with some DLC assets. If that's you, please DM us here or email at: quartet at somethingclassic dot net
