My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Love this graphic novel. The only problem I had with it is now I have to wait for the next one to come out.

This is scary. Back when we had ferrets we had rules about who could get close to them if they were sick. Plenty of times either myself or the OH had to do all ferret care, cleaning cages, etc because the other person was sick. It was so easy to pass some illnesses to the entire business.

Well this article is harrowing

Just found out about the Chicago Bee Library and while not surprising, it was disappointing to discover you cannot in fact check out bees. 🫤🐝📚 😆

Being the "best AI for novel writing" is like being the best sandpaper for wiping your ass.

May the team at BioWare quickly find better footing in new jobs with minimal additional disruption to the lives of them and their families. And may the execs at EA be blessed with excessive diarrhea and biting fleas until they do.

I’ve heard of Burrowing Owls but not Burrito Owls 🤔🤣

This owl was getting banded and tagged by the Rocky Point Bird Observatory. For the owl’s safety, he/she was wrapped up. These photos…🤣🦉. So cute.

So how’s your afternoon going 🙄 Ground floor sewer line backed up 🤢 Thankfully this is a campus setting and our entrance is on the 2nd floor. So we can just take a very long break to one of our other buildings. It’s been a while since I checked out the other bathrooms.

Using the OCR built into this phone to grab the text for alt text made it a better joke… “Cause of death for Jackie the bald eagle revealed; avian icon has been cremated 10 hours ago by Iris Kwok”

That moment you go from being excited about being in a place at the right time but then realize…. no, wrong Ottawa. The one I’ll be in is NOT the cool one. *sigh* No shenanigans for me, again. *sigh* Guess I’ll go look at the rock where the first Lincoln-Douglas debate happened. again. oh yay🙄

#portfolioday :3 Heya I’m indui! I love creating fantasy art, especially in the theme of gardens/plants, dragons, kitties, and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Yes, absolutely. For example, if in the next few weeks, Trump sends ICE officers to polls, you know what you do? You go anyway, you throw them a middle finger, and you walk into the ballot box and don't let them intimidate you. What you don't do is despair and stay home.

I said this in a thread last night and in a thousand threads before it, but you really are doing the work of those who would destroy democracy and the rule of law when you are a doomer. You can be aware of — and vigorously oppose — the lawlessness of this administration without insisting on doom.

"ADHD label risks lifelong harm to children." If you don't label the disorder, then what we will be labelled instead is "Lazy." "Underachiever." "Doesn't live up to their potential." "Bad student." Those labels come with pain, shame, and abuse. The ADHD label comes with a chance for support.

1. The independent Taskforce — commissioned by NHS England, backed by government — concluded ADHD is under-diagnosed, under-recognised and under-treated in the UK. Not over. The press has reported the reverse of the finding www.thetimes.com/uk/healthcar...

One thing I love about road trips is exploring some of the local roadside restaurants and diners. Farming community dinners can turn out to be great places to get good comfort food for any meal.

Back home from the weekend roadtrip. I have to say the best food was in a small farm community about 30 minutes out of Peoria, Il. The worst was in the center of Springfield (when we finally found something other than corporate fast food)

There were a lot of places that despite the “Now Open” signs in their windows clearly had not been open for some months. Other “pubs” had signs “No Food Service”. Pfft! Even the hotel’s restaurant did not seem to want to serve anyone other than drinks from the bar.

Sitting in a Springfield (IL) pub. With all the “historical” plaques around this town and everyone trying to tie themselves into Abraham Lincoln’s life, I was surprised it did not have a “Lincoln Slept Here” sign out front.

On this day 155 years ago the #GreatChicagoFire began. This was the pivotal event that turned a basic big water to rail port city into the great modern city it is today. Out of the fire came the first modern Skyscraper and with it the introduction of the Chicago School of architecture.

It is also the date of the #PeshtigoFire in Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan which was actually much larger and had significantly more casualties than the Chicago Fire did when it was all over.

So… um… @ysharros.bsky.social I thought I heard some rumblings about a certain event day. Today. Like a Birthday, perhaps. 😁 well, if these rumblings are correct, then… Happy birthday! 🎉🎂 I hope it’s a great one. *Hands over a fresh birthday pie, a bottle of dark rum, and a box of back pills*

This picture will always be iconic. RIP Margaret Hamilton who wrote the software that successfully guided NASA’s Apollo missions through the moon.

I lucked out & had a few RAs in college that like me & my floor mates. We had a couple of mobility challenged people & few times the RAs suggested we go out to a bar after dinner. We got back just as the elevators were put back in service. Saved us walking down then back up 12 stories.

This post is unavailable.

Just had an employee (let’s call them DD) ask where my other employee went to. He had taken a 1/2 day PTO and left at Noon (5 hours ago). DD did not realize that, even though their cubicles are in the same room 15 ft apart and tried to start up a conversation several times with no responses.

This is one of the reasons I drink at night. Another being no matter how bad DD is at their job the bosses boss won’t allow us to fire this one person without exceptional reasons short of breaking the law.

Ooo this is fun. I’m a hobbit. I want to go see Rivendell! Wow these enemies are coming out of the woodwork to find me. Better be careful. Why are they all red now… What was that message that flashed on the screen? All I saw was “Danger…” What… Ok how did I just die? I don’t see anyone. 😳 🧌🏹☠️

When the OH brought home the nascar game for our console years ago, I found it kinda boring… until I started dropping out of the pack at lap 2 and going the other direction. That was fun! 😎 💥🏎️🏎️
