Ah. Well, then.
So with Comiket day 2 starting, the EGS crew have announced something they've been working on for a good, hot minute.
More information will be revealed in the year to come.
But in 2025... prepare to re-open the item shop.

I think most of all I love that flames that came before jim and merril passed through them to me and my friends and on to others who will make their own things unknowingly inspired by jim and merrils work and quiet social work keeping teens out of trouble.
shout out to jim ward whose memorial quietly passed on the IGF screen the same night we won our award, his work was a great inspiration to me, and I wish I had got to meet him while he was still around, but I hope I carry some of his falme with me through his work
shout out to the librarian merrill at west regional library who was many of our first dungeon masters as kids, running brutal oldschool 1st edition D&D games for local teens in the quiet florida evenings.
I'm so glad we got to give the world a taste of what it was like playing rifts and gamma world and D&D at our mid 90s south florida tabletops. We really thought we had something special, and I guess we did.
Young game journos, if you think it's tough to keep embargoes nowadays, please remember that I discovered Galarian Meowth during SwSh embargo and had to bottle up my screams for *weeks.*
As someone who has gone through "onboarding" at a Valnet website, it is 100% believable that this person has never even been told what an "embargo" is and the difference between that and a "deadline".
This happening at a Valnet owned site is proof that games media cannot continue to exist with 0 mentorship, editorial oversight, general education for new writers.
No writer assigned a review should not understand what an "embargo" is and how to uphold it.
This is just as much on their editor.
Deeply frustrating when freelance journalists like me spend sooooo much time trying to get review codes that we need to make a living, only for a person from Dualshockers to go on Reddit and break the embargo and make it EVEN HARDER FOR THE REST OF US GOING FORWARD.
Gee, you could try paying folks what they're worth in order to encourage them to do the work, especially as folks become more & more aware of the value of their labor.
... Nah, we need the politicians to find us more slaves.
And then they wonder why they struggle.

Farmers in deep-red Pennsylvania are struggling to find workers. They're pushing lawmakers to move faster on a farm labor solution, even as Trump cracks down on immigration.
“We need people to do the jobs Americans are too spoiled to do," said one farmer and three-time Trump voter.
I said this at the beginning of the year and it feels even more true now - the way the MAGA cult views racial and religious minorities mirrors this passage that Philip K. Dick wrote about how antisemites view Jews:
i have said this before but when “getting rid of race in admissions” for the administration means “you can’t even try to reach out to underrepresented communities and encourage them to apply and if you do it is illegal discrimination against white people” then the actual goal here is segregation

betty crocker shrank their cake boxes instead of raising prices and now a huge % of recipes that use them no longer work. meaning there's no point in buying a mix at all.
Love how super robot wars screenshots are just like those bait images that are like a still from Babylon 5 but it says "Mr. Spock and his best friend Duncan Idaho piloting the Millennium Falcon in a pitched battle against the Kodan armada"
randomly found this post again after completely forgetting in absolute totality that I wanted to inject "the fucking serfs won't slap the pond" into my lexicon.
going from playing pokey, chunky, buzzy Atari 2600 games to this reformatted my brain at the age of 6 and made me forsake all toys in favor of video games
