BAAJA will not lead to the replacement of fossil fuels with clean energy, part 10,000.

Statement from the American Petroleum Institute, the leading lobby for the largest oil companies, in support of the bipartisan permitting bill: "Congress should seize this moment and finish the job—making it easier to build the infrastructure America needs and helping keep costs down for consumers.”

hakeem jeffries should be in front of a microphone blasting the regime for unleashing its security forces on a member of congress under his leadership.

The leader of House Democrats really should be front and center on this

The more combative Dems get, the more of this they will run into. It will be a coordinated wave of elite opinion, scolding them, tamping them down. The fight strategy *only* works if they are willing to bull their way through it, blow it off, mock it. (Their history does not raise one's hopes.)

"Jon Ossoff, my advice to him is, if you start calling your political opponents Nazis, maybe it's time to shut up. That's just not what we do here in this country." -- David Brooks, this evening. Remember, Brooks still gets very handsomely rewarded by the fossilized media for saying shit like this

Since both parties are pro-genocide...Inshallah. It's not just trump who has tarnished our reputation. And it's not just our soft power that's waning. Our inability to defeat Iran could dramatically shift world leaders' willingness to challenge us militarily, and economically.

alternet.orgWorld fears Trump's 'cruelty' is crumbling US power 'before our eyes'The U.S. benefited from a major sociocultural "superpower" for decades, but now, President Donald Trump's "cruelty and lawlessness" have that power "crumbling before our eyes," per a new analysis from...

This was an outcome I had anticipated, and one that convinced me there was no downside to voting Green. Harris would've continued the genocide, continued threatening major nuclear powers, while maintaining our status in international institutions and opinion. I do not view that as a positive.

On the *same day* the Cornell Seven drugged and raped Jane Doe, Cornell banned four students (including the President of Cornell JVP) from campus for three years for nonviolent, pro-Palestine protests. The same Cornell officials let the rapists off with apology essays.

Every now and then I see myself referred to as an "AI Denier" and I want to be clear I acknowledge "AI" exists, it's just I think it's a massive energy drain, created from theft, implemented poorly for inappropriate tasks by loathsome tech executives who get hard at the idea of the rest of us dying

I have come to accept the fact that, without mass protest and direct action, there will be cameras everywhere, we won't even see them, and won't know who's watching. This is the direction the technology and the incentives of the ruling class will take us. ...ARE taking us.

After digging in, it's clear we have another example of the cops lying and deploying mass surveillance under our noses, without any rules or policies constraining their behavior KCSO says 'No AI or ALPR's', but the vendor Skydio, brags about all the 'advanced AI' integrated into their systems

When Trump attempts to interfere with the midterms, a coalition of Seattle groups will be ready with our most potent tools - the overwhelming power of a strategic general strike in conjunction with coordinated, peaceful, mass civil disobedience.

We can therefore assume that this is the list of NFL teams whose owners are pro-genocide: New England Patriots Philadelphia Eagles Atlanta Falcons Indianapolis Colts Carolina Panthers Dallas Cowboys Tampa Bay Buccaneers

New: Macklemore says Robert Kraft — who owns Gillette Stadium, where Macklemore & Ed Sheeran were to perform later this month — called Sheeran. Kraft rallied other owners together behind an ultimatum for Sheeran: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you won't be allowed in our venues.

I recently finished reading the Lord of the Rings novels and watching all of the Extended Editions of the movies. I've decided I'm never leaving Middle Earth. I'm starting the Hobbit and I will watch all three Extended Editions. Yes I know they aren't as good but I don't care. I'm not leaving!!

The AI datacenter buildout proves that the money and capability has been there to deploy renewable energy at massive scale quickly. The people running our country have simply decided not to. In fact, they've done the opposite, putting us further behind on decarbonization every single day.

The fact that petrostates are invested heavily in AI gives the game away. One of its purposes is to float the value of oil and gas assets worldwide. Our own petrodollar depends on it. Stopping climate change means the end of U.S. hegemony. And we should welcome it.

they can't. liberal democracy has run its course. we all bought into the declaration of independence but what we got was a thinly veiled oligarchy. and a white supremacist one at that.

Sam@samd.bsky.social

liberal democracies really need to unite in defense of liberal democracy to counter the global fascist movement that has emerged and is funded by tech billionaires

An AI is not the kind of entity that can have moral agency. It's a device, like a blender. If the blender hurts someone it's the fault of some person, not the machine. An AI is a non-moral entity created by some of the most amoral -- if not evil -- people on Earth.

Jessica McKenzie@jessimckenzi.bsky.social

why would you think this

the absolute nanosecond the owner's money becomes worthless at the collapse of civilization, their security staff will take their bunker. I hope they made that little prison room nice and comfy.

Josh Sternberg@joshsternberg.com

This is where the 1% will go to restart civilization after a nuclear attack. But it for me thinking: what if the uber wealthy built these bunkers for more people — and not for nuclear attacks but for the climate crisis that will get us all — instead of trying to leave the planet?

i will support Coyote vs. ACME by seeing in the theater this weekend. and heroically so because none of the venues serving booze are showing it. it's like they don't know which generation(s) are the biggest Wile E. Coyote fans.
