I’m seeing a repost going around that’s basically “ew some people skip stories in video games” and like… yeah, most game stories are terribly told? But that doesn’t make the games mechanically uninteresting. IDK, different people play games for different reasons, and I think that’s good

Feeling very ~curtains for zoosha~ about some of these names in pop culture rn tbh 🤣 Hearing about some big podcast kerfuffle and feeling very ~sorry to this man~ like I don’t know who this man is.

“He’s got the White House looking like Saddam opened up a Cheesecake Factory" Obama just spoke to an ELECTRIC audience in Ohio, skewering Trump & Hegseth and making the case that while we may be stuck with the same POTUS until 2029, we are not stuck with a spineless do-nothing Congress Highlights:

I remember going to New York some 20 years ago, and eating at a world renowned vegetarian café as I had always heard tell of their seitan-based meat replacement, and I had never had such a thing. Now I get delicious meat replacements at the grocery store every week.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

This guy as a historic character in Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave’s backstory: Dagda’s Cauldron is fine, it has nothing to do with me, I won’t be in Dagsion that day

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

Another useful property of a large backlog? If you (like me) are trying to avoid GenAI in current games, you might literally already have a bunch of games from pre-GPT days to play. I’ve been peppering classics I missed in between the stuff I do still wanna play and it’s been great

It feels impossible to keep up with game releases these days, but that shouldn't leave you feeling guilty or keep you from checking out new (or old!) titles. @midimyers.com's latest here:

I got woken up before the sun came out because our big dog was having a bathroom emergency, and I never was able to fall back asleep. I’m now at the point where I have to proceed with my day, and I hate it here lol. I hope everybody’s Friday goes as well as it can. 😭🤣

if trans people's rights are up for debate, so are yours that's just how this fucking works guys

For the past two years, and long before that, Trans folx have been telling everyone that their rights are not up for negotiation, election or not. Democrats refused to listen. Be angry at the candidates who ignored them, not the people begging to have their human rights respected.

It’s pretty funny to be called “elite” for supporting trans people by a cigar-smoking, champagne-swilling, yacht-owning billionaire, but hey, why shouldn’t we all bow to the opinion of someone not trans, not queer, not a doctor, not a scientist, but who’s really really rich?

I just finished getting the best ending of the new Castlevania game. I’d stop a hair short of calling it a masterpiece, but by the end nearly all of my initial concerns were put to bed, and I will absolutely revisit this. I hope they can do another one, and refine this approach further. 🤩

As a big Nathan Fielder fan for years (obligatory: watch The Curse, and try not to form an opinion on it until you’ve seen every episode) it’s been a treat to see interest in him spreading this week online 🤩

it’s really telling how Tommy refuses, even when pushed, to say why he wants El-Sayed to disavow the Muslim Brotherhood even though everyone in the room knows the reason these guys are almost all cowards in person

Abdul El-Sayed@abdulelsayed.bsky.social

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

Wait, the new Jason show gives him a super power origin story? 🤣🤣🤣 I’ll admit, as I always say, I prefer when the series is off the rails, but was his heart becoming a demon worm that can possess others and needs to be stabbed with a magic dagger too much*? *Jason Goes to Hell

The funniest folks you’ll ever see while out protesting are the ones that doggedly avoid making eye contact with you as they clutch their steering wheels, as if they’re more terrified of catching empathy than the measles

I promise I’m not doing a bit. I love big complicated UIs in games and every time I see “lower info” options for UIs in big games I wistfully wonder about “maximum info” options that will never come

(In case it’s not clear, I totally respect, and even love that folks have “clean UI” options if they want them, that’s just the opposite of what tickles my game brain)

Damn, if you’re not a basic failure of a white man, he literally has no time for you.

The latest Musk publicity stunt with his “”””flying”””” car illustrates the broader issue with a lot of the tech industry these days (particularly AI, but related to enshittification in general) in that: What pressing problem is this supposed to solve, and does it do so efficiently and effectively?

I don’t think I’ve said this here in a while, so it’s probably a good time to note if you’re in the US and unhappy with the way things are, you should vote. But for candidates whom do not support human rights, I understand not supporting those ones, but otherwise vote for Not This.

With the Fortunes Weave DLC incoming, but the sublords’ chapters not coming until 2027, I think I’ll slow down and do one Part 1 a month for the rest of the year? And hold off on Part 3 until the new routes are out (and do Part 2 again, since I’ll be rusty on it by then, lol)

I find myself praying for the health of the pope for the first time since I was a child, and I’m very confused right now

ROME (AP) — Vatican says Pope Leo XIV has lung cancer and that the lower lobe of his right lung was removed.

Something I do every October is make a list of games I plan to grab during November sales, INCLUDING MY IDEAL PRICE FOR THEM The goal here being to get ahead of any “settle” deals. (If I want Wolverine at AT LEAST 35% off, than for me I’d prefer to stand by that than be swayed by a lesser deal)

Amusing aside, I used Wolverine as the example here because I found a used copy while price checking it last week for this list and ended up just jumping on the used copy (but it was 40%+ off! 🤣)

I have a trans irl that refuses to leave Twitter because Bluesky/Masto are “too political” and now in the GC he’s hyping racist UFC guys/gets upset at folks that don’t wanna engage him over it Like genuinely, even if you THINK you are immune, get out of that space

This post is unavailable.

I should note, because it’s stuck out in my mind, that I only bring up his trans-identity because he uses it as a shield on this topic, like “they won’t convince me to hate myself” but… given how I’ve observed his values slide, I’m not as sure about that as he is, and it worries me.

Then the following months (often through Q1) are spent playing those games, and as a bonus any disappointment I might feel about a crap game is lessened by having not paid $60-80 for it.

Oof, gay celebs with mental health crises in their history dying while I’m managing my own mental health kerfuffle is… always notable. If you can manage it, love (take care of, and be compassionate toward,) yourself.

"On the other networks, especially Mastodon, they tell you you’re “feeding Nazis” — by going to the platform where Tim Cook posts Pikachu videos" I dunno, John. You're recommending that people pay at least $8/mo to the platform owned by a Nazi to make the Nazi richer. Isn't that right?

Me for years: I’m so excited they’re adapting Time Runs Out, it’s going to be kinda challenging for mainstream audiences because it’s going to play like Empire or Endgame (but even worse,) until the other shoe drops. This to me is just a sign they’re presently doing it right?
